17 years old, planning LL
« on: March 29, 2022, 05:36:13 PM »

Hi, I am 17 years old and I am 1.67-1.68.5, with 1.79 almost to 1.80 wingspan, I have not grown in almost 2.5 years not one centimeter and because of the stress I have, I don't think it will grow any more., I am thinking of doing LL but without losing much agility, I would like to continue skiing, playing tennis, etc. What would be the best?
- 7 CM femurs
- 8 CM Femurs
- 5 CM femurs and 5 tibias
I don't need to be a tall person, being within the average and not feeling ignored is enough.
I would like to do it as soon as possible, to enjoy it in my youth, I plan to do it with paley but to save so much will cost me some time, if not with him at least I would like to do it with a doctor who is close to his level as Dr lee or some European doctor.

Unless you don't have visually long femurs or short tibias, I would go for 7 cm Femurs. That checks all your boxes:
- average height
- retaining physical ability
- nice proportions, wingspan/height

Achieving 8 cm on Femurs is not even guaranteed, not matter how much someone wants it. And one mistake (overdoing it once) can f*ck up your soft tissues.

Your wingspan is good. You might still grow. I think you should get your Xray done and see the situation of the growth plates and wait for a few years before doing LL. 5 CM femurs and 5 tibias is better if you can afford it.

Wow we're like the same person, age height even wingspan lol. Before considering anything I would get your growth plates xrayed. If they're closed, and you're content with being average height (assuming you're in a western country), I'd agree to do 7cm femurs. From what I've researched it's quite safe especially given your age.

Well, I was supposed to be 179 cm (something that makes sense because as I have said my wingspan is 179-180 cm) but in my adolescence I went through a very complicated situation, too much stress and not enough quality sleep. As I said I have not grown even 1 cm for about 2.5 years or more, even though I have done sports and tried to maintain a good diet, etc. (now I'm also starting to get facial hair. )
Unfortunately the current situation has improved but is far from stress free. I am the same height as my sister and a few centimeters taller than my mother and almost a head below my father.
I believe that height, apart from being influenced by genes, food and quality sleep, it is also related to emotions, stress, happiness, etc. It is essential that the brain is well and feel safe so that instead of being on alert it sends signals to develop the body, otherwise it is difficult to take advantage of the % of height related to the environment.
As remote as the idea of me growing up is, it doesn't matter because I don't have the money to do LL now, I may have it in my 23rd or 27th year.
So I will go for the 7 cm in femurs, but one more question, do you lose more mobility if you do 3.5 in tibias and 3.5 in femurs instead of 7 in femurs?

PD: yes, I'm from a european country

Do you have problems with clothes? Sometimes I look like a carnival monkey because the sleeves are too short.

Haven't had too many problems with shirts usually, although it's probably more because I don't really care too much about my fit or whatever haha. I have had a ton of problems with pants going too far down though. Not 100% sure about the 7 femur vs 3.5 tibia though, the latter would probably be a bit easier on mobility (smaller calves vs larger quads/hamstrings), but if you want to get the most height for what you're doing, might as well go with 7cm femurs.

It does not matter if you stopped growing. I am 19 and stopped growing at 16. My growth plates are still open so I am taking HGH to minimise the impact of LL. More height gained from HGH = less height and hence a better recovery with LL.

Have you really ceased to grow any taller? I think before you X-ray your bones it's not right to outright jump to the conclusion.
But, as far as I know, generally speaking you can't grow much taller at this age.
But you indeed made a smart choice. Height is really a mental diaster who can torture you until you are totally maddened. I am literally short already for 21 yrs and I am already convinced being tall >> being handsome(aka having a good face) >> being rich.

I felt that fking neurosis a lot, but I bought some insoles that add up to about 2.4cm + some shoes that are at least 2cm or more and the neurosis goes away, I put myself at 1.72-1.73.5, and even though I'm still below the average for my country I no longer feel that I am the shortest, I cannot imagine what it must feel like to grow 7 cm + 2 or 3 cm with shoes
