Is it possible to work as a programmer while undergoing LL? Has anyone done that?

The thing is your mind would consume too much energy and experience a lot of unnecessary stress when your body needs all the help in the world to heal your broken legs. Work can wait.

True that..the thing is I recently changed my job and it will be difficult to take leave of absence..The main killer thing for me to do LL is the time it takes..6-8 months ..it is pretty hard to put life on hold for that long..that for me is the tipping point..not money or risks at this point

That's not long at all. Just play games, watch movies, listen to classical music, anything that can relax your mind would be better during that period.

Well I think your productive work hours will be way shorter than normal. Imagine how much time you'd need to do physio, daily hygiene with limited mobility and etc.

I worked while doing LL. It's not easy. You will only get 2-3 hours of work done a day.

Is it possible to work like 5-6 hrs a day after lengthening phase is over?

I will also have to work after lengthening is over and I'm wondering if it will be possible to do office work 6-7 hours a day. Has anyone experienced that?

Maybe.  A few fellow patients in Beijing successfully worked full-time jobs remotely during LL.  Some people could not handle that, though.

I am working full time while lengthening now. I can focus because internal tibia isn’t  painful after a couple weeks. The big issues I’ve faced have been mainly getting enough sleep and changing my work schedule to go to physical therapy. It would have been really nice to take time off but it’s just not an option unfortunately. Also walking around on crutches takes way longer to do even the smallest tasks, so I feel like I have less time throughout the day in general. My good leg is actually more sore than my operated leg from hopping around on it all day 😂

It’s really a double edged sword because work makes you feel like you are in your normal routine and I even forget I’m doing LL sometimes lol, but also it’s really tiring while lengthening.

Good luck on your recovery! This was one of the issues that I am thinking on about whether I will be able to work or not. It's good to hear that you can basically work while lengthening. Thanks for sharing!

The tough part of working during lengthening is that you're under strong pain medications (tramadol, lyrica, muscle relaxers etc.) which makes you 'slow'. Your cognitive capabilities are almost certainly reduced while on tramadol and lyrica. I guess, it really depends on what kind of job you have.

I am not taking any medicine other than calcium + vitamin D and blood thinners.

Did you finish lengthening already ? I haven't met anyone who was able to click/lengthen without at least tramadol + paracetamol.  You must have a high pain tolerance!

Yeah, last week I was taking pain meds but because of stomach issues, I had to stop them. I am bearing the pain now. I am in the 2nd week of distraction. I think I can bear the pain as of now.

Good luck, bro. It's tough but worth it. Wishing you the best!

Do everyone has to use each pain medication in whole lengthening process?

No.  The number of drugs and the frequency of taking them can vary.
