Planning on surgery in July / August of this year with precice 2.2 femurs ... I work at a desk all day but i'm wondering how useless I will be mentally and for how long before I can get back to work (on a laptop or whatever)

and right after surgery, how long before i can walk with a walker? or am i completely wheelchair bound?

Prepare to be wheelchair bounded for 4-5 months. Can’t comment on the mental part.

honestly i feel that the mental is so much worse than the physical. going to the bathroom you have to learn on the fly how to transfer from wheelchair to toilet. and if your bathroom is tiny like mine then you will have to transfer from bed to wheelchair to another smaller chair that rolls and can fit in bathroom (like a computer chair) and THEN to toilet. all the while your knees are clicking, muscles are stressed and sore. im not gonna lie taking a   is the hardest thing of the whole process while you’re in a wheelchair. i could not do this without my caregiver whom i pay $40 per 24 hr shift. im practically convered in sweat and panting like i ran a half marathon. by the time my caregiver rolls my limp body back into bad i have just enough energy for one more transfer, and then he basically has to pick up my legs and navigate them to my bed. then it’s time for a painkiller and some thc vape and im out for at least 4 -6 hrs.

I thought walking with a walker was encouraged for bone healing? so the entire time i'm going to be in a wheelchair for 4-5 months?

Was this right after surgery ? or how long was going to the bathroom like this hard? that is actually one of my concerns

You can use a walker for short distances, like within your room and to get to the bathroom, toilet, and shower chair. But you will need the wheelchair for longer distances.

How do you find a caregiver for only $40 for a 24 hour shift? Also how does a caregiver work 24 hour shift, do you mean live in caregiver?

how long did you have to do this before using it for slightly longer distances?

Many people can weight bear with Precice. Depends on your circumstances. If so, you can use the walker for longer distances. Say 100 meters. Longer requires wheelchair. I strictly use the walker within my apartment.

I was mentally and physically exhausted for over a month. Call it 10 weeks. After that, I started being able to produce intellectual work. But even after I stopped lengthening my legs were physically difficult

Yes I was able to work a few hours a day after 2.5 months.
The first month, it would have been impossible.

Was it impossible because you were on painkillers or something else? and what about the second month?

What were your days like the first month? a lot of sleeping or something else?

Unrelated to painkillers.

Zero sleep in first month

Brain was dead

I know it's hard to fathom but you will not be your normal self right after the surgery
