Insurance coverage in the US
« on: March 16, 2022, 05:47:16 AM »

Hey guys, I'm considering getting the surgery done in the near future and wanted to ask to those who did it in the US if there is any way to cover some of the procedure expenses through my HSA or any health insurance. I know that the procedure itself isn't covered because it's a cosmetic surgery, but I was wondering if it was possible to cover the physical therapy and medications. If so, how much have you been able to cover? I'm trying to figure out if it's more convenient to go to Europe where I probably I won't have most of my insurance benefits or stay here in the US.

Physical therapy is a joke for an LL patient and a waste of money.*

Thanks for posting this! Did the physical therapy mainly feel like glorified stretching? What were the best and worst things the PT did in your experience ?

Nothing glorified about it.  It's just stretching you can easily do on your own.

Thanks for the response, man! I think I'll continue investing to go outside the US in that case.

What do you think about doing internal VS external for tibias? The only option I found for internal in today's market is Precise, I don't care if isn't weight bearing since I have a super strong upper body, the other option is LATN, but even if fully weight bearing the pins and the cost is super close to Precise (at least with Giotikas).

Also, I noticed you did tibias first, why is that? I know you did this years ago, but if you had the chance to do it again with internals, would you go femurs or tibias first?
