How are non-unions handled?
« on: February 19, 2022, 02:20:59 AM »

With the Precice nail, which can be reversed, would the doctor usually reverse lengthen until some bone is formed, then continue lengthening? If not, what usually happens? I'm asking this because I plan to lengthen my tibias by more than usual, hopefully.

The doctor will slow down or stop lengthening and see how the callus formation is doing. If the next X-rays do not show improvement, then the doctor may recommend reverse lengthening a very small amount (like less than 1mm) or try an accordion style like this example for one day:

+0.25mm
+0.25mm
+.025mm
-0.25mm (reverse lengthening)

Daily total: 0.50mm lengthened

Do you know if this is one of the cases in which Growth Hormone is also used to help bone growth and consolidation?

No, I am not aware of HGH for the cases you mentioned.
