Interesting Nail - Intramed
« on: January 23, 2022, 05:36:18 PM »

Guys,

I find this interesting video that describes a new implant device which is called "Intramed". It is more of a mechanical nail but does not rely on clicking, and rather on a button that need to be pressed , see the link below :

Any thoughts on that ?

And if this is something available (or will be ?) in the markets? curious to know the weight-bearing chratchriusitcs, elongation limit? , etc..

Thank you for sharing this wonderful news. Sorry my English isn't that good, I did watch the video you posted and tried to understand the way it works. I think according to the video, this invention just happened recently and the complete healing time is rather shorter right? I was wondering if it can safely lengthen femurs up to 10 cm and complete healing process within two months.

Not sure about healing time , but it would be the same as in any weight bearing nail (assuming that it is a weight bearing nail of course) , not sure about lengthening limit but mostly should be up to 3 inches
other than that not sure why this is not announced, maybe it is halted

The video its from 12 years ago..it probably just dis not work because it had many flaws.
There have been many nails besides the one we know that never made it mainstream .
Even if it was available...who would have the guts to try it since no respected/famous doctor uses it ?
Synoste n Stryde are our only wishes for a safer/less painfull/wb nail .

you are right,
too good to be true , seems like a solid nail in the video though
like you said , stryde (or its replacement ) or otherwise old school mechanical nails
