The rate of LL patients allowed to do Paley's Option 3?
« on: January 21, 2022, 06:05:24 AM »

Hey guys in light of my extremely short height I am willing to choose Paley's Option 3 to grow 16cm taller since I can afford the total expenses. But I wonder the rate of Paley's Option 3 patients and if it is not that handsome then I will give it up otherwise I won't be deterred from doing Option 3 cuz I am really too short and I will get a bone in my throat to say my height in public even though it is LL forum.
I heard that his apprentices would carry his torch and Paley is retiring. I hope they can go on conducting Option 3 for patients otherwise I can't see any hopes in my life and I am very depressed and anxious about my height so there is no reason why I should give up LL.
Do you know the resource that concludes the rate of Option 3 patients? I think bc it is too costly so not very many patients have done Option 3 and I dunno if anyone here has been doing Option 3 and writing his/her diary.

Very few for multiple reasons, highest cost due to increased number of surgeries, greatest amount of time to complete and very few people can carry off 16cm leg lengthening. You can find posts from Betz patients who have done around 14cm in 2 segments wanting to do shortening surgery because it doesn't look normal anymore.

I think you said you are like 163cm which must be very tough being that height. Be aware that it will be incredibly difficult and prepare accordingly. I thought you were early 20s in age? If so how did you get that amount of money for option 3 so fast?

It's another story but thank you for your informations. My father possesses a governmentally-allocated house at the outskirts of Shanghai and after owning it for 5 yrs this house price can increase up to that price which can support me to do Option 3 and I don't wanna elaborate it any further sorry. You know how horrible the increment of China's house price is but BTW I don't care about my proportion cuz I don't think being disproportional is a tragedy more upsetting than being short so I hope you can have empathy of me and my Leg-to-Body ratio values low which means my legs are rather short compared to my body so I think it won't be that awkward to lengthen my legs by that much when it comes to worrying about being disproportional.

That's uncommon your parents will pay up over $190,000 USD for you, you are lucky in that regard. What is your current sitting height and wingspan?

Why don't you consider someone else  like dr.Lee who is closer to you and also cheaper ?!
Paley as you said ,its about to retire n his skills cannot be like in his prime ,while Lee is in his 50s ;you might save time and money by approaching him and his skills I don't think are inferior

Dr.Lee appears not to offer Option like Option 3 that can gain me 16cm height growth to save my life.

Imo you're better off going segment by segment. I would do 7-8 cm on my tibias first with a guy like Dr. Catagni or Dr. Xia and Peng (who are in China), see how I recover, then go back for round 2 if I feel I'm up for it/need it.

I’ve never seen anyone doing that option 3 (16 cm) when I was lengthening femurs last year and tibias this year. Most people only did femurs. A few people did tibias (usually the girls, and guys who already did femurs like me). A few people did both segments at the same time. Those people who did both segments had option to come back for rebreak surgeries, but I’ve never seen anyone coming back.

Paley has a few examples on his site of people who did 16 cm/6.3 inches.

No problem--coincidentally, they seem to largely be Chinese nationals.

Maybe Dr. Pili instead of Catagni because he already operates without Dr. Catagni, which is 73 yo. Or Xia, Peng, Solomin, Assayag....

I think I'll email Dr. Pili and see what he says.
