spinal can lead to some nerve damage and infection.
but general can cause more serious problems. It can even cause vision problems I have read. it is a pretty strong drug. also because your completely knocked out if you throw up for any reason you can have serious issues. thats why you should not eat or drink for 12 hours before surgery. All this sounds more serious than spinal which is more localised. I don't know why so many doctors use general.
General anaesthesia has for sure more complications on the paper since it is a whole body ko compared to spinal but people undergo cosmetic and non-cosmetic surgeries on a daily basis worldwide and the incidents of those problems happening in healthy CLL patient (unless mistakes from medical staff) sounds unlikely to me .
I had undergone a small surgery when I was younger and the GA (general Ane.) for sure leaves you in discomfort after surgery because you have nausea and you feel lost .
It might not be a thing for someone undergoing a needed surgery but for CLL I believe that the main problem is to stay mentally healthy the first weeks in order to not fall into depression or regret thoughts (another reason why I would not go with precice 2.2) so the nausea, headaches, the pain from surgery, the discomfort...would make those days emotionally umbeareable ; they will eventually pass but still if we could avoid them why not.
If spinal do not have those downsides that would be much better but the surgery takes time ,like 3 to 4 h and what if you wake up in the middle ? Can't imagine myself being cool with being awake while someone is breaking and reaming my bones .
Is there any way to be sleeping with SA without GA ? ( you mentioned sleeping pills but they never worked for me in normal conditions so would not for sure under CLL ones )
