Canadians please suggest
« on: December 29, 2021, 03:18:41 PM »

Hello fellow Canadians,

If I, a Canadian travel to the US to get this surgery and return back to Canada, can I get follow-up treatment from a Canadian doctor? Every couple of weeks, I would need to get my xrays and get a doctor to examine me and maybe coordinate with my US doctor. Would this be possible? I am not going to be able to fly every two weeks to the US.

I don't know how to get xrays for something like this in Canada. Can I take a US doctor's xray prescription and get it done in a Canadian hospital?  I am quite certain the public healthcare system will generally not help me unless I have an emergency.

Any advice for me?

There dr.Marie G in canada ,idk if she is close to you but she does CLL so she could make follow ups for u (maybe) .
You should ask her prior but I feel its little bit stretched because If I was a CLL surgeon,I would not like someone else patient to take my time with a procedure not done by me .
They might help ye but remember it's not on their interest that everything goes smooth as it would be if they done the procedure so think about it .

Exactly my thoughts. She already has limited time for her own cosmetic patients. She might not have time to take care of some other patient.

At least can I get xrays to send to my US doctor? The only way I have got xrays done is through a Canadian public healthcare doctor. I have no idea if I get an xray on my own.

There have to be some private Institutes.
Even Eurooe have public health system in majority of cases but CLL doctors mostly perform at private institutes so u should check one of them and talk to them .
If u go to a public hospital with bilateral rods
A they will laugh at u
B they would just take random x Ray's probably with not the accuracy needed

Those are my thoughts but idk

Why not get just the surgery from Doctor Marie? She only does precise 2 nail for now but will definitely begin using Stryde nail once it's available again. This depends on your timeline for surgery.

In the interview with Victor, Dr Marie explained that she has had some trouble with finding a private center due to politics and policies. Something to keep in mind.

Yes the main concern is her private practice is limited by the Canadian policy. It is not clear when and how often you can meet the doctor outside of the public system. Private care is a pretty unusual setting in Canada. Most people who need private care end up traveling to the US.
