Best doctor for Femural CLL?
« on: December 07, 2021, 01:27:41 AM »

Hi guys,
I'm looking forward to getting Femural CLL done in 2022, however after doing months of research, i'm still wondering who's the best doctor for femural lengthening? if we put the price aside.
Of course most people are biased especially the patients but i suppose there is a consensus around "who's the best CLL doctor in the world right now".

Additionally here's some criteria:
Best method.
Best/fastest recovery.
Best staff.
Best PT.

My budget max is 170k$, i'm in EU but can move around the world if necessary.
I'm looking at the combo: Stryde + magnet powered device. (advise if there is better)
I'm quite athletic, male, age: 18-32.
Current height: 5.5 ft
Target: 7cm max.

It's a risky surgery to take that's why i'm ready to put a lot of time and money on the table.

Answers will be subjective, but imo if you have that money to get it done in the West, do it in the USA.

Look into:

Dr Dror Paley
Dr Robert Rozbruch
The surgeons at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, like Dr Assayag and Dr Conway.

All will offer internal nails, which are the best for femur lengthening if you can afford it. You could read patient experiences or look into their PT facilities to find more info about that and staff.

I completely agree with this. If you have money, it's best to do it in the USA. Although, I think it is slightly debatable temporarily because there are no weight-bearing nails available in the US.

Paley is great , but Robbins is the one who operates and in interviews he says he did not even got to use the externals so imagine ..

Rozbruch nothing to say, his career talks for him but so does the price (125k) .

Sinai hospital it's a renowned limb lengthening center but Assayag has not that much of an experience to pick him over someone else like Lee or idk .
Dr.M literally became popular because he advertise like crazy because with his medical degree and experience ..I highly doubt anyone would have picked him .
Same ,exactly same , with dr.D .
He has no experience and claims tons of cases that not even 10+ or 20+ years experienced surgeons claim .

I believe that putting a nail it's not the hardest thing for an ortho surgeon therefore that's why some new doctors are getting popular ;
They advertise, they lie , people go and outcome is ok so people have a feedback therefore they go .
Therefore after Paley basicly retired , other then Rozbruch ..us surgeons just advertise more ,they not more skilled.

If money it's not an issue go with Rozbruch.
You will not have pt included but HSS is the safest place to get this surgery done .
They can suggest you probably some good pt .
After him ,dr.Lee (which is also significantly cheaper then Rozbruch) with pt included but he is not responsive and living 3 months in Korea might be dreaning mentally because it's a totally different  place/language .

In Europe I am researching about Peter Thaller (the surgeon suggested by dr.Lee) and his experience and international lectures looks great .
Awesome side he would be close to us ( I am from europe as well) , bad side we don't have cosmetic diaries because he don't like them/advertise them .

Those are my overall conclusion from those years but it's just personal .
Many here like a lot surgeons I didn't even mention so it comes really down to personal perception but if you have the money ,Rozbruch.
What better place then the 1st orthopedic hospital in the world with the chief of the limb lenghetning section operating on you ?

I've heard stryde was recalled worldwide until 2022 ish.

Ok so the consensus of the forum seems to agree that Dr Rozbruch, Dr lee and Dr Paley are the best CLL surgeons.

There is G-nail, by Dr. Guichet (in both the UK and Italy),  its inventor and using it or its previous version since 1990. And starting to use the same nail  recently, there is also Dr. Giotikas, trained by Guichet (for this nail), in Greece. Advantage compared with Stryde is that the nail has a proven record of several years of no corrosion and no related osteomyelitis. A disadvantage is mainly that it requires learning to bend the leg to the side in a certain way to "click" the nail (that lenghtens by that mechanism), instead of the more practical remote control. But more relevant disadvantage is that it is not reversible and sometimes it may be useful to temporarily contract the bone to help consolidation.

If money is no object, then the answer is always Dr. Paley. There just isn’t anyone with his experience, ingenuity, skill, and expertise in the field of leg lengthening aside from Dr. Illizarov himself. He’s basically the Spielberg of LL.

I don’t like to advertise myself here, and I find Kilokahn’s answer very flattering . Thank you.

My advice to you is to talk to previous patients, get their pulse. Look at online reviews. they tend to speak for themselves. also, look at the institution’s track record.

DM me if you have any question. Just know that, whoever you choose to go through this process with, is most likely going to be a good choice.
