PE after ACL sugery more common than PE after limblengthening?
« on: December 06, 2021, 11:31:59 PM »

Hi!

I was researching online and I see that many people has had DVT after ACL surgery? Is this more common for ACL surgery rather than limb lengthening surgery?

This makes me kind of at "ease", as I have had ACL surgery before.

blood clots and PE is a natural risk of any lower extremity surgery. And this is, even with blood thinners in prophylaxis after surgery. Surgery deal with the human body , which is an intricate machine that reacts differently from each individual.

All around the world, there are reports of deaths during surgeries as benign as facelifts!! or bunion surgery!

It unfortunately is the nature of the beast.

I think he was asking for the odds of getting PE from ACL surgery and compare it with LL. He has had ACL surgery before so it probably gives him confidence if he is not taking a greater risk this time with LL.

That is a good way to think about it. As an analogy I rode a motorbike in Vietnam once and it's considered a dangerous thing to do. I would risk doing that again if it would make me 3 inches taller

Yes, you read my thoughts! It would made me feel at more ease if the odds of getting PE in limb lenghtening is lower than after ACL sugery!
