As we all know, East Asian teenagers are facing with early puberty problems and their growths ceases to grow earlier than those in the last century.
So I am wondering if their early puberty spurts are influencing their final heights negatively and they can't grow up to final heights that their genes determine them to grow up to, like a boy should have grown until he is 180cm tall but due to his early puberty spurt, he can only end up with being 175cm or even shorter.

Yes, this is called precocious puberty in extreme cases. It's what happened to me and shave 6-8 inches off my adult height.

Yes that happens. I wonder which leads to a shorter height, early puberty vs delayed puberty

What? 6-8 inches.. I dunno how to estimate one's adult height but was your adult height estimated by accurate medical equipments or just your self-assertation? But I think the reason why early puberty spurt reduces one's potiential of growing up to final height is that it deprives you of part of growth time.

IMO either they can lead to the same final height or the former leads to a shorter height. Delayed puberty doesn't deprive you of part of growth time while early puberty does. But early puberty or delayed one is also determined by genes in some cases but genes can't explain why East Asian children are proner and proner to early puberties.

Black Americans start puberty earlier than Asians and are still taller. Why do you care so much about Asian puberty are you trying to find a reason why you're short?

My final adult height was predicted using medical tools, midparental height, and growth charts. But yes, precocious puberty is known to massively decrease your adult height without medical intervention (by about 22 cm). Here’s a study about it where patients were given treatment: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/11600530/

Does precocious puberty specifically effect your legs? If you measured correctly you must have one of the highest sitting heights for a 170cm guy. Guys with that sitting height are usually 15-20cm taller than you.

That’s a great question. I found a study here that seems to suggest that: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/6234747/

I believe trunk growth actually prefaces leg growth in puberty, so that would explain things.

How to estimate the exact loss amount of precocious patients' growths? By medical tools or growth chart(like if your actual age is 6 y.o but your bone age is 8 y.o, then you will lose 2 yrs of your whole growth time?)

They used midparental heights in the study, but for me personally, my growth charts were putting me at about 185 cm before I hit puberty (as opposed to 182 cm for my midparental height).

Thx. I think actual age can't eventually make sense and your bone age was prematured cuz of your precocious puberty.

My mother and father were 168 cm and 183 cm at their peak. However, I was projected to be about 185 cm, or roughly 4cm taller than what my brother ended up being.

I started showing obvious facial hair growth at about 9-10.

So at what age did you stop growing?

And what do you think was causing your early puberty?

I largely stopped growing by about my 13th birthday, then maybe grew another 1-2 inches after that.

If you grew until 17 or 18, then it's probably genetics.

I didn’t grow until 17-18. Besides, you don’t fall from the 85th percentile of height between ages 1-11, then shoot up to the 97th percentile and down to the 15th without something going wrong.

How do you feel about the situation today? Are you stil planning LL and could you see yourself being happy long-term without it?

That's a great question, and it's one I've thought a lot about. In all honesty, as long as I know LL exists, I'm not sure I can be fully satisfied with my height. It just feels off given I used to be fairly tall for my age as a child. If I was always on the shorter end of average, then I don't think it'd bother me. However, since I used to be "tall"--and because my mother made her feelings about shorter men (around my height) rather clear growing up--I think I'd have a hard time coping with being 5'7. I'm still not *completely* sure, though; I might give Dr. Solomin a call for a virtual consultation and schedule some vacation time in the next year for LON tibial surgery if thinks go well. I'd like to do about 2.5-3 inches on my tibias, but we'll see.

How old are you know? I see that you've been here since 2014.

By the way, back then you said you were 5'6".

Bone age is the best index that can be used as a medical tool to estimate your final height while your age can't.
The reason why I made my question is that I'm wondering if children and adolescents in one country are facing with early puberty problems, will their average heights be under the expectations in the future for next generations?

My growth is kinda weird but true. I ended up growing around my 16 y.o and prior to the end, I achieved three-centimeter growth all of a sudden for unknown reasons and then ended up growth until now. Seems like my growth is normal and my puberty spurt was not excessive early.

I'm 25. I don't know if I "grew" (maybe glucosamine soleplate and a few other tricks did something) or I just mismeasured when I was 18, but regardless, I'm 5'7 now.

You must be able to remember the age where you ceased to grow and you will never grow after that age if you measure yourself accurately. Once your growth plates are closed then you will never grow taller, which is the saddest part of the whole story.

I largely agree, but there are some exceptions. Glucosamine sulfate will help add between 1-3 cm, but it's mostly the result of preserving morning height via preventing spinal decompression.

You gotta keep exercises that can decompress your spine combined with Glucosamine pills on a daily basis to achieve more than 0.33mm on the height according to the researches about Glucosamine sulfate pills. BTW take a noon break on a bed can have the same effect LOL, and no need to buy pills.
