What role does Nutrition play during Consolidation?
« on: October 27, 2021, 05:00:52 PM »

I've been told from several sides that a hypercaloric diet is essential for a fast recovery and bone growth. Is this true. Is it really calories the bone needs to grow? Could a normal diet paired with a wide array of supplements do the deal as well? I thought the bone mainly feeds of calcium and vit d, proteins. All of these can be supplemented easily? What is the medical opinion on this?

Bone is composed mostly of proteins, contrary to common belief, the minerals such as calcium, magnesium, phosphorous make up bone tissue as well but most people have excess calcium and not enough of the other minerals, especially magnesium

Since the average person is Vitamin D deficient I would definitely supplement/tan for months to a year leading up to any sort of bone related procedure

From a food perspective, beef or game meat should be in the diet for the highest quality protein for tissue growth

Vitamin D and calcium are super important. Upping both made my bone consolidation roar back from almost nothing.

Thanks for the great answers.
So eating a lot is not necessarily necessary, as long as these nutrients are supplemented accordingly?. Currently I’m taking the following supplements daily:

- 2x 700mg Calcium
- 2x 5000 ie Vitamin D
- 2x multivitamin complex
- 2x aminoacid complex ( mix of 12 different amino acids)
- zmax pill before bedtime ( mix of 185mg magnesium, 10mg Zink, 12mg b6 )

Im only 2 weeks post op so there is no indication of bonegrowth yet, but I’m curious to see how it might fair, given the supplementation I’m taking.
