hello, mdof
there was a discussion in the group  of a non cosmetic condition, which required all four bones(femurs and tibiae) needing implants. any idea what it is?

Never heard of it.

Thank you for staying here to help everyone :). I have the opportunity to go to Dr. Lee for surgery and lon is 40% cheaper than precise and I'm torn between the two procedures. Do you think precise(femur) has a big advantage over lon (tibia)? (I'm almost worried about permanent knee pain, health and sequelae problem)

Precise is probably better in terms of health and recovery.

Thank you for your reply! I'm very hesitant now. Dr. Lee's Lon (planning to do tibia 5cm) and giotikas precise (femur 6cm) are almost the same price... My budget only allows me to choose one of the two. Dr. Lee seems to have more experience and better PT but percise is better to avoid complications. Do you have any advice please?

I found PT to be unnecesary as a tibia LON patient.  Some users who've done internal femurs say it's extremely important.  So I guess Lee's PT isn't a reason to choose him if you're doing LON.  In fact you're probably wasting money by going to him since you'll be paying for the PT, unless that's optional.  Save even more by doing LON with Giotikas?  Maybe.

I'd choose Giotikas and Precise from those options in that situation.

I'd only do quadrilateral simultaneously if I was lengthening a small amount, like 8 or 9 cm combined.  Otherwise I'd wait between surgeries.

I think the nails have similar common risks.  I don't think it matters a lot which one you choose.  They're much more similar than they are different.

My question is about your fasciotomy. How did you know you had compartment syndrome and what tests did you have? I have seen photos of fasciotomies where the wound is left open, was yours like that or stitched up when you work up?

Those muscles got very easily/quickly fatigued when I walked.

A doctor stuck a little pressure gague into the muscle after I went walking in the hospital parking lot for a few minutes.

Mine was all stitched up.  I think the only reason they don't stitch some of them up is because they can't on those.  Mine were only an inch long.

When you did your cosmetic scar revision was it done all in one surgery for both legs?

Half the scars on each leg were done per surgery.

Half the scars on each leg were done per surgery.

So for example the left half of the left leg in the first surgery then the right half of the left leg in the second? Was this due to not putting tension on all the scars at once?

How long between surgeries?

It was more spread out than doing one side and then the other of each leg.  Yes, you don't want the wounds pulling on each other.

I think you can do them 3-6 months apart.  I don't remember how long I waited.

I have lengthening in January.  We are the same starting height, im a tad over 5 foot 7.

Im debating if I do 2 inches and maybe can keep it a complete secret including from family members.  Or do 3 inches and just have people find out.

Wondering on your perspective since you did 3 inches.  Would 5 foot 9 have cured your height issues?  Is 2 enough?  Or is being 5'10 worth the extra time, effort, and having pretty much no chance of keeping it a secret.  If everyone finds out in the end I might wish I just went for 5'10.

I think 5'9 would have been OK, and if I had it to do over again I'd only do 2 inches.  I was even considering that much in 2007, but what made me go for that extra inch was my 29" inseam.  32" is a commonly made size of pants so I went for it for the sake of fashion.

I'm not sure if 2 inches is below the threshold of being noticed.  Maybe some distant cousins you don't see very often might not think anything weird is going on, but your mom/dad/siblings/bff will definitely notice you're suddenly 2 inches taller.

Rather 2 inches because you didnt fully recover?  Was hoping to get away with it because I had a recent spine surgery and could use that as an excuse.

You'll never fully recover.  It's all a matter of degree.

If i lengthen 7.5cm Femurs, weight bearing nail, and get a proper ITB (not a soft ITB) release to begin with, how long realistically before i can walk with a gait nobody can detect is off? 90/95% normal gait? It might not be the smoothest, but nobody would say what is with his walk?

Time from surgery

And time after i stop lengthening

Hey

When you had your surgery, did the surgeon use syndesmosis screw? If so, what was the positioning of it?  Was the end on the fibula lower or higher than the end on the tibia? Or was it horizontal?

Thank you
