I suffered a lot with my height growing up (1.65 m). After college, I got a job, and this triggered my anxiety even more. I finally put my job on hold when I was 20 years as I discovered (after considerable research) “The Guichet nail” or “the G Nail”, Dr Guichet was experienced in the fully weight bearing nail, at that time, there was no other weight bearing nails (no Stride yet!). I went to see him with the full support of my family and I was fortunate enough to be able to pursue it. After the pre op training we planned the surgery. I gained 72 mm (with my first surgery). All was not easy, but I was very motivated and very flexible. I recovered very fast.
I found it made a massive difference to my life with a strong ‘confidence boost’.
I was so pleased with the outcome I decided to do a further lengthening as I was still shorter than average. Dr Guichet requires a pre op training which is exactly suited to achieve the best result for lengthening. I followed Dr Guichet’s instructions and was also able to train by myself and gained 30% of muscle force so was ready for the surgery. HOORAY !
Yesterday, I entered the hospital (Day-care hospital in London) at 8:00 AM. I was anxious but not stressed (my mother was far more stressed than me). I was happy to get on with it and gain my extra cm’s.
After the operation, I slowly woke, but found I was totally painless and very agile. One hour after surgery, Dr Guichet popped-up and asked me to do all sorts of exercises including walking up and down a flight of stairs. I could fully bend my knees and hips, it was easy, maybe due to the fact it was my second lengthening .The nurses and doctors were shocked at my ease (they were very warm and reassuring and couldn’t do enough for me ).
I did the stairs, but they didn’t have a bike at the hospital (hospital is very new). 3 ½ hours after waking I walked out of the hospital on my feet with aid of crutches down to Harley Street to catch a taxi. My mom took videos but I'm not sure I want to share them as I'm a private person I also appreciate the confidentiality Dr Guichet and the trainers have provided.
When I arrived back at the flat, I did 5 minutes on the exercise bike with maximum resistance (8/8) with no problem. Dr Guichet assured me that I will fully go back to my normal life soon (with cautious walking), and I may not loose muscle force, like some of his patients.
This morning I did my training at home then onto the “clicks”, it's been a few years so I couldn't fully remember the position in which I did lengthening last time, a quick Video call with Dr Guichet and everything was sorted. At 2 PM, I went to the physiotherapy centre for the consultation with the rehab doctor then for my training. Dr Guichet asked me to do Elliptical, which I did, its stressful to go on the machine as its high, but with a bit of help , on I got. When I go tomorrow, I think I will use a step to get on and off as it will be easier. Its only one day after my surgery and it's difficult to believe for me and my mother but I'm so pleased the way things are going.
I'm back home now and plan to do some “stretching” then do my “clicks”, have a good meal then chill out a bit before my last set of “clicks” then bed.
See you soon!
