We've had many revolutionary inventions in the recent century in both the medical and non medical worlds. Being realistic, will they ever be able to produce an apparatus or a way to increase height that has minimal or negligible impact on athletic ability. Somehow one must be able to come up with a way that doesn't alter the biomechanics of the patient while also giving them extra height.

Wondering what everyone else's thoughts are, discuss.

Of course orthopaedists have been awared of ability loss and they will optimize limb lengthening procedures.
But I guess in the near future,LL won't be the only alternative to increase adult heights but various pharmaceuticals and biomedical engineering will spring up and up like fking rainfed bamboos for human to be pleased with.

Very unlikely in the near future.  Maybe in several decades.

The only way to minimize athletic ability loss is to promote soft tissue growth and repair any related damage.

Perhaps it can be done with stem cells in the future.

I do agree if the stem cell research goes further it can be able to solve this issue of athletic loss.

I think it is possible, but it takes time you know.

If LL gets to the point where everyone can do it and retain 100 percent athleticism, there will be athletes attempting to do it as well. Like sports that require height, basketball.

Do you think that would be considered cheating if athletes went to do LL so they could do better? This is what I'm thinking right now.

100% It would be considered cheating. Just like drug tests there are measures that they can do to prevent cheating, showing proof of medical records and all that stuff.

Oscar Pistorius didn't get disqualified; nobody who gets LL will be either.

I'm pretty sure if LL becomes more popular and up to a point where it retains 100% athleticism there will definitely be discussions amongst sporting committees dictating whether it is allowed for sports or not.

I guess LL will become like a double-edged sword in the future. It will be a chance for people who want to grow taller a bit to achieve their goals, but it will be something that many sporting fields consider cheating. They probably will record every athlete's height on a daily basis.

Once you can recover 100% from LL due to some kind of gene therapy and/or stem cell based tissue remodeling, recovering from LL won't be the issue.  That kind of human engineering science would change the world forever, well beyond someone adding a few inches to their legs.

Indeed, so the average height of humanity will only get taller.

That far into the future, who says we will even have human bodies? Perhaps we just transplant our brains into robotic bodies which are superior to our human ones
