Hey guys, Iā€™m now planning out when to lengthen. There is a lot of contradictory information on recovery timelines, particularly when it comes to consolidation and gait. I was hoping people could discuss different lengthening methods and their individual recovery timelines I.e ā€œ for femur with stryde my gait had a noticeable limp for 3 months after consolidating the was almost normal at month 4 and 5 and 100% normal at month 6.ā€

I am going to assume internal nails as LON on femur is very painful.

1) Stryde is no longer available. For weightbearing nails, you have a choice between Guichet Nail offered by Dr Giuchet and Giotikas, and Betzbone offered by Dr Betz.

2) For non-weightbearing nails, recovery time is a month slower. Precise 2.2 is available in the US right now and should be globally available by September.

3) Your recovery timeline depends on your lengthening goal, age, and effort put towards stretching. It varies widely for each individual. I know patients who could walk without gait by month 4, and others by month 8.

4) Assuming you're in your 20s, lengthen 1mm/day until 8cm, and stretch for 2 hours a day, you should finish lengthening in 3 months time.

5) Recovery time is around 2 month for weightbearing nails and 3 month for Precise, because you have an additional task of muscle recovery.

6) Thus typical recovery time for 8cm Gnail/Betzbone is 5 months, 6 months if you're older or want to lengthen more.
