Just starting my diary here on the forum in the hopes that it may be useful and helpful to others considering limb lengthening in the future also to those who have already started their LL journey I had my LL surgery in LA, California with Dr. Mahboubian just over three weeks ago, first week of July. I spent three and a half weeks in LA, the first few days before my surgery doing hospital Covid test and the two pre-op doctor appointments. The surgery itself was a success, thanks I am sure to Dr. Mahboubian's skill and expertise, as well as to his surgical team. The next few days in hospital were a bit of a blur, being on intravenous medication. I didn't feel excessive pain in my legs, maybe a 3-4 at most. I did feel nauseous most of the time. I couldn't keep food down, and had lost my appetite anyway. When PT guy came, I was able to take a few steps on the second day and use walker without bearing all the weight on my legs, and on the third and final day in hospital I could take yet more steps on the walker and navigate stairs. Once I was discharged and back where I was staying in LA, I began to feel more alert especially as I was off the IV drugs. The next few days I made progress in that my appetite began to come back, I slept better, pain levels were low and never higher than a 3 at most. I was able to relax, do some minor PT on my legs, lots of ice packs, and then my appointment with Dr. Mahboubian and ERC/Nuvasive representative. Right now, I am back home and into my third week of lengthening and so far so good.
