Advice for 4-5 cm, thinking about dr Buldu
« on: June 19, 2021, 09:26:44 PM »

HI All

I would like to do ll for 4-5 cm. I know stryde/internal femurs would be the best option but unfortunately I don't have the funds for internals.
So my only option would be externals or lon. External only would mean to wear the frames for a very long time, time which I won't have. So my only option would be lon. With lon tibia, there is the risk of permanent knee pain, and with femurs there is the issue of ROM and of course more discomfort. At the moment i'm inching towards lon monorail femurs with buldu. What do you guys think? and does anyone have pictures of the scar from monorail femurs (with buldu)?

I'd choose the knee pain over limited rom and months of agony.

If considering external femurs please change your mind

Thanks for the reply. Don't you think that the issue of limited ROM wont't be a big deal with just 4-5cm? And if everythings goes fine i'm will be wearing the fixator for max 2 months.

Hi activatedex, I hope everything is going smooth.
I understand the agony of having the fixator around the femurs, thats why i'm still uncertain. But looking at the videos on buldus instagram, i see lots of patients being mobile. What did you observe when you were there?

I don't know how much of a problem ROM will be, but I do know people's planned lengthening schedules seldom end up happening.
