Possible way to cut cost on LL
« on: June 15, 2021, 07:16:13 PM »

Its an open question in the forum, but do you guys think it is possible to use stryde/precise on lets femur, heal, remove it, then re-use the nail for tibia to cut cost ? Since the expensive thing is the nail ?

I can’t imagine that’s remotely safe for a few reasons.

1. The nail leaves the body no longer sterile and would have to be sterilized which would be hard to guarantee.
2. The nail undergoes a lot of strain over time and probably is not at full strength by the time it’s removed.
3. I’m pretty sure the difference in nail type/diameter for tibias/femurs will be different on most people anyways.
4. Just from an ethics standpoint… I can’t imagine a doctor risking their reputation doing this.  It’s a very dangerous surgery already.

So I would guess “no”.

Lmaoooo your body isn’t wood dawg. My gnom dying laughing. Mans said remove nails and reuse😂😂😂😂😂😂. That’s a silly question. If finances is an issue take out a loan as well as save. Under no circumstances should you go to India.

No doctor will do this. Lol this was a funny post

It is routinely done for a second lenghtening on the same bone. Unfortunately nails for tibia and femur have different structures among them, so they can't be switched.

The least expensive way is to use Giotikas from Greece or Buldu from Turkey. You'll pay the same for Stryde/Precise but the surgical and accomodation costs are half that of North America despite enjoying highly reputable sugeons. The only cheaper locations are China and India, but doctors there mainly use LON for its cost-effectiveness and are much less experienced with internal nails.
