of course, people can surely do this alone, hundreds have done it for years now, men, women, children regardless of age and gender. However, if you opt for LON or LATN, whether it's tibias or femur, the first week or even the first 15 days is going to be extremely difficult mentally and physically. My experience first-7 day was awful, I could not do anything by myself, my knees were stiff, swelling like balloons, if I tried to move my legs too much, they would screamed in pain. I still managed to stand on the 3rd day and walked like a cripple on the 4th day, however, if I wanna do personal hygiene like brushing my teeth, washing my face, my body won't be able to rest peacefully. So, without the help of someone, it's just impossible to do those things. Attitude or motivation won't help in this case because your body is just too weak to do those things. Of course, you can just lay there and eat and rest and take bowel movement on bed but not for me lol, i want to keep the same routine like when my legs were normal. Therefore, caretake is extremely important, I would no way do this alone
