Internal femurs has given the best results recovery wise and aesthetically. But stryde is not to come back for 1-2 years and I can't wait that long. Precice is the alternative but I can't imagine doing this all by myself in a wheelchair. With precice you can hardly stand if you don't get the thickest rods. This means minor things like standing up and brushing teeth, cooking a meal, standing up from the toilet become extremely hard. The only way it can all be done is if you have a family member with you 24x7 which I won't (I have not told anyone). When it is all done, I don't know how I will fly back home. I doubt I would even be able to use the toilet on the airplane.

So I am thinking of doing full externals. Even though frames are scary I think I will get used to them. Pinsite infections are bound to happen but they are not known to be serious and will not affect the bone. They are usually resolved with antibiotics.

Even though externals are very inconvenient I think being able to stand up without fear of rods breaking means I can do this procedure independently.

It makes sense to me if you don't want to be too restricted with weight bearing. Fames indeed look scary, but they seem very good in terms of function. These are some older videos for @Great321 in case you are interested.

May i ask you why? 1-2 years isn't that long! You can do some cardio and muscle training while u're waiting!

Don't take your age as a factor for LL. It's possible at almost any age. Thats why i did the recent poll:

http://www.limblengtheningforum.com/index.php?topic=66656.0

As you can see many LL patients are in their 30s.

Don't put yourself under pressure since it's an important surgery and many LL doctors are butchers.

Coming from someone doing full externals, I wouldn’t recommend, precice is fine with a wheelchair you will have it way easier than external frames unless you’re doing tibias but for femurs read my diary and you will change your mind

Looks great, but he did not seem to recover that well :( He last said he could walk 6km before getting aches and pains. Walking a lot is the bare minimum I want be able to do after this.

Internal femur patients seem to recover the best long term

You never know what you're going to get.  I could only just barely use a walker the whole time frames were on, and I got no pinsite infections.

I don't expect to walk around or anything. But just simple stuff like standing and brushing my teeth. Or I have to go to an ATM and get some cash and I somehow use my willpower and do it. Or I'm waiting for my doctor appointment and urgently need to use the toilet, I slowly make my way there and use it.

With precice, it's basically DANGEROUS (not just difficult) to put more than 25kg per leg (unless you get the thickest rod).
