REMOVAL OF LL ROD
« on: April 10, 2021, 06:52:58 PM »

Hey guys... So life has been good, at least considering the current situation. Now the time has come for me to remove the LL rod. Do you (especially LL veterans) have a suggestion? I'm looking for a reasonably priced alternative since nowadays I have other goals in mind other than this surgery.

Thank you and hope you are well!

I am kind of confused about what exactly you are asking.

After Lengthening you stay with the nail for a time... It's been 2 years since my surgery and I want it removed.

Hi LLSA!

This is a simple surgery.  You will be able to walk out of hospital, worst case with a cane or walker, and should feel closer to normal and walking with no assistance after 1 week.  You should avoid any heavy lifting on your legs for 10-12 weeks since the screw holes need to heal a bit.  Congratulations on reaching this point in your journey.  It' just about over!

Thanks man. I get the general picture. I wanted to know if you recommend a doctor because Guichet charges a little bit too much for my taste. Also, since it sounds like an easier surgery, I was hoping for a cheaper alternative. You went with Dr. Mahboubian, I believe he is one of the most expensive, isn't him?

If you have some sort of insurance in your home country or there is national health system, try to use that for removal.

I'd rather do it with a doctor who has experience in limb lengthening!

You don't need to go to a surgeon who does lengthening for cosmetic reasons. Any traumatologist will be able to remove the rod without issue.
