Stryde Nail vs Precice 2
« on: April 03, 2021, 01:27:49 AM »

Does anyone know of any other benefits the stryde nail has over the precicse 2 nail besides weight bearing, being stainless steel meaning its stronger? Ive been looking into this surgery for a while now and when the stryde nail came out that was the moment i wanted to do this for sure. The idea that you can walk right away even if it isnt much was the turning point for me to do this for sure. Now with all the recent news on the recall to stryde would anyone just go with the older reliable model precice 2 nail or wait for the stryde. Guess what I'm asking is, is the stryde nail worth waiting for if you can achieve the same results with the precise 2 or is this really a matter of preference? I would think most ppl would like the option to be more mobile vs working harder to get up, having to be more careful with the older nail and being slower.

the end results should be same or better with the precice because it doesn't cause osteolysis. See marathonrunner's post for the details as he writes better than me.

but you will be in the wheelchair for months. This is the reason why I am planning to do one leg first and then the other leg the next.

hope this helps

I have no idea where this wheelchair thing comes from. You will be on walker for months and then probably on crutches.I used wheelchair once, to transport from hospital to hotel.Yes if you go outside you should use wheelchair, but inside home you are using walker.

dear Dionysus,

the each rod can bear 70lbs of weight which is 35kgs almost in the metric system. You have to be really careful with the walker and hop with the both legs together and not one at a time. This is not a easy exercise to do.

cheers,
