I think she asked to get all her posts removed and there's nothing left on here about her experience. Even back when all her troubles were happening she didn't like talking about it. I know she was obviously a bad case and something went wrong. Half the point of this forum is so we can all be informed about the risks and what might go wrong for us if we go through with things. Does anyone know what actually happened to her and what her physical condition is now?

Obviously not trying to invade her privacy or anything - she's an anonymous person on a message board to me. I never met her, never will meet her, and don't care about any personal details of her life. I'm just curious about the LL outcome and what went wrong.

There used to be a lot of flame wars about Monegal as well and I'm not trying to rehash those. Every surgeon can have bad cases and maybe Monegal is a good or bad surgeon. Either way, that's not really the point. I'm just curious how bad her outcome was, why, and if she's recovered at all now or can walk, etc.

I feel it's important to talk in a general sense about the cases where people get crippled and how they occur or we will never be able to protect ourselves or be fully informed.

To become crippled by LL you have to be real god damn stupid. Why? because we can see complications coming a mile off and do not happen over night. As long as a surgeon does their job on the operating table, every other complication can be treated if you do not ignore it at the very beginning, Dr. Paley's words, not mine.

I have heard of a few bad cases as I have been to consultations with other doctors all over Europe and the common problem with everyone who had a hard time recovering was that they ignored the complications. You have some people lengthening too fast and others who go all Rambo and do not report problems back to the doctor. Listen, report and stay within the safe limits and then you should have a decent recovery.

People are quick to blame the doctors but completely ignore the fact that the patients are usually the idiots not listening. Not to say every doctor is a saint.

By the way in no way am I referring this to musicmaker, I am just generally saying this. I have no idea what happened to musicmaker nor do I know who that person is.

This.  Two notable people from the hospital in Beijing (tibia LON):

1. A girl who wanted to get LL in between high school and college over the summer.  She decided how much she was going to lengthen and how long she was going to be there.  She was not on pace by the last few weeks so she started lengthening 1.5 mm per day against doctors' orders even though she was a tiny girl with small, weak tendons.

2. An overconfident guy started walking around immediately without even using crutches right after he got his frames off, before his bone had a chance to bond with the titanium screws that would be holding the nail in.  Again, against doctors' orders.

I don't know what happened to them since both of them left shortly after they did this, but it does happen that patients are responsible for the problems they have.
