Is it worth waiting for the Stryde nail to come back?

Is it worth waiting for the Stryde nail to come back, or should one just use the precice 2 method?

Giotikas just said that Precice will be available in March, and Stryde unknown: at least not before August. Seriously considering Stryde now...

Where did you hear at least not before August?

Now I need to consider Precise vs Betzbone.

The August date refers to all surgeries booked before then being cancelled. Stryde coming back could be earlier or later than that but that’s the estimated date they’ve been given by Nuvasive.

back to ilizarov days it is boys. aint nothing like wearing those frames on your legs and not shoving a nail through your bone marrow. And when your done, just remove the frames and walk it off! no nail removal.

there are many weight bearing external frames. They would be favorable to precice wouldnt they?

but unfortunately every single soul you meet will know your doing cosmetic leg length surgery. You can try to explain that its for bow leg correction and surely they will believe you.

And I dont know much about the twist and shout nails.

Can you use the ilizarov on the femurs? I thought it was only for tibias. If so how long does it take to gain 3cm?

Anyone hear any updates about Stryde's availability? Last I was told by my doctor is that it wouldn't be available until a year from now.

I thought the last info by Nuvasive was Q3 2021 for stryde?! When did you talk to your doctor?

Having done LL with Stryde I can't even imagine doing it with Precice 2. Getting to PT, the doctor's office, grocery shopping, etc. would be a nightmare. If you have someone taking care of you then I think Precice is an option, but Stryde is the only way to go if you're flying solo.

Well, I'm desperate to the point that I must get the op in summer so... Precice it is, although I am aware it will be hell lol. However, I do go with my girlfriend, so I am lucky in that matter

A lot quicker recovery with Stryde. So much faster bone growth/consolidation and normal gait. Maybe worth waiting for Stryde

Well, it seems it wont be available before end of year in Europe. If I get Precice in June, I will have finished consolidation by then so... I think its worth it. I'm just doing 5 cm thought, I understand Precice is fk up for someone who does like 8.

Talked to my doctor last week when called to tell me about the recall. Said Stryde will not be available again for at least a year from now. Should also note I'm in the US where it's expected to be back first.

If you don't mind me asking, who is your doctor? Any insight on what it's expected to be at least a year?

If you are at a younger age, bone consolidation is better. Precise is ok. If not it is worth waiti ng for the stryde. One more thing to consider is that if you get tibia done i would say definitely, should wait for stryde.

Assuming you're 35 years old and want to achieve the full 8cm in femurs. Is it better to wait for Stryde? Also, what can a patient expect in the experience of Precice? Thank you so much

I'm 24, doing just 5 cm femurs, and my gf comes with me so... I wish I had Stryde, but in my case I dont think Precice is THAT bad. I also get the big precice nail it seems

Femurs heal faster so i would say precise is not too bad. I was surprised when i came to korea and get mine done. It seems like total opposite to what i uave read on this website. Not quite a lot of patients do 8 cm on femurs. Cause rehab on femur is extremely painful compared to tibia. I know some patients did 7cm on tibia. I know one young korean guy did almost 8cm on tibia with LON

yeah i am in Korea now and going through my consolidation. Younger patients recover pretty fast even with precise. If you can’t wait, precise is not a bad option especially if you have your gf with you. But one thing you need to consider,  if some deformity happens, you can fix it with  stryde nail. With precise can not. ( that what i heard from another patient) do some more research about it or raise that question to your dr.
