Illizarov external femur method
« on: February 02, 2021, 11:41:15 AM »

Take many months off is something most ppl cannot do.

If I do plan on surgery, will I be able to move and walk around for university classes?

Problem is you never really know how the device feel when walking unless you actually do it. Which is why I am hoping there are some people here willing to share their own personal experience.

You never know until it's you in the frames.  Some people could, but there's no way I could have.  Even after getting the frames off I was walking so slowly and precariously and was worried about getting bumped in a crowd and falling over that I went to a different college because the one I was enrolled in was undergoing renovations and there were so many hazards like metal plates and boards to step on/over.

No you cannot go to college. You cannot even sit down in bed without pain. Let alone a chair. You seriously need to read more and watch some videos. You cannot even walk faster than a grandma with hip replacement.  You are functionally crippled with LON, let alone LON Femurs which is a torture machine. You need to read more, allot more. Your expectations are EXTREMELY out of reality.

Frames were on for about 4 1/2 months.  Walking on my own comfortably/confidently without crutches took almost a year from the first surgery.  But if you lengthen less than I did, it will take less time to recover.

Crazy how many clearly ill-read forum posters there are. Literally zero effort to do any level of research before posting. ::)

It's fine
The most comfortable method is Stryde Femurs, but it's still far from comfortable. The truth is you will probably not be able to attend college during LL, however, it is very likely you can make it in time to get back during next semester with stryde. Can't say the same with LON Femurs or Tibias. Months more longer recovery.

Zoom school is obviously doable.
