Preparing For Surgery, Stretching, Diet, Food

Guys I have been wondering, it’ll be best to start preparing for the surgery now.
I am 19 years old.
Will take me some time to save up the money. But I want to start preparing physically now.
Goal is to do 2 surgeries and gain 10cm plus.

Doing 2 surgeries I heard will make the bones a lot tighter, and would be difficult to stretch.

So guys can anyone please tell me, give advice to what to do.
I believe stretching will be good. But not sure what to do. Shall I look for videos on YouTube?

Is jogging good to stretch the bones?
Is cycling good? As I have a bike and often go cycling. Is taking the seat higher a good way of stretching the legs more?

Is gymnastics, being flexible good? Being able to do the leg split?

Is it okay to do work out on leg? Build leg muscles ?

And then final questions what to eat?
Cheese ?
Goat cheese ?
Milk ?
Dairy products to make the bones strong?

Anything else to add in the food? Any special diet ?

Any LLers who have done the surgery.

Would be helpful if you told me your personal experience in stretching and if you were flexible before the Surgery

I think flexibility is the most important thing.
I was able to comfortably put my palms on the floor with straight legs.

It seems that cardiorespiratory ability would be great for overall health and fitness without building too much muscle/sacrificing flexibiility.

Maybe some more vets can weigh in...

My current BMI is 28(body fat percentage is a tad bit higher).. I am trying to bring it below 25...What  should be the ideal BMI for LL?

i would say more a better measurement would be bodyfat percentage.
try to aim for 10-15% body fat

Skinnier the legs the better. Flexibility and mental preparation are the things you need to prepare for the most. Everything else is minor in comparison.

Diet is very important to healing.  You must make sure you are getting adequate Calcium, Vit D, Magnesium, Phosphorous etc.  Often forgotten is protein.  Make sure you get at least 12gm/kg every day.  15gm/kg would be my choice.  Also minerals, iron, Zinc.  Caloric intake should be greater than your pre surgery requirements.  Many men require 2000 calories a day so you should take 3000 to 4000 or even more depending on your weight.  Check other sources for exact requirements.

I went to Coscto and bought 6lbs of mixed proteins.  Again, a variety of proteins and amino acids is best for healing so don't buy a protein source that is all milk protein or albumin for example.

Non steroidals (NSAIDS) are good for pain but may not be good for healing and conflicting evidence yes okay to take vs impairs healing.  You can check with your doc or just add acetaminophen 1000mg to regimen 3 times a day.  I would suggest a narcotic analgesic plus the Acetaminophen.  Sorry, I feel Tramadol is a crap analgesic but may work for some.  For post op pain consider:
1.  Narc--Oxycodone, Hydrocodone, Morphine, etc
2.  Acetaminophen 1000mg
3.  Diazepam10mg up to 3 times a day (muscle relaxer)
4.  Gabapentin 300mg up to 3 times a day (nerve pain)

These meds are highly recommended but doses are my opinion.  If your doc says I am giving you some other formulations, have a sit down with your physician because this combo above works well for many and their crap formulations do little most of the time.

While you would think the docs would advise you for pre op and post op needs many of these ass*oles only care about doing the surgery and the money so it is on you to be prepared.  Many of the docs do not give you do's and don'ts so this website is invaluable.

Keep in mind you lose 10-20 pounds after surgery while lengthening even if you eat well.  I’ve already lost 15lbs since surgery.  I told my doctor I was losing weight to prepare and he told me to stop, since once I’m 6’ I will be in underweight range already once I lose the next 10-20 pounds.  I think I’m losing more and faster than most but I also have a big metabolism and strong healing overall.  Started 170lbs, was 160lbs at the 2 week follow up, close to 155lbs now.  A lot of it is fat

Also work on grip strength and forearm strength in the gym beforehand if you’re not weightbearing (e.g. precise 2.2 like me).  Plus the biggest thing to focus on stretching is the hamstrings, especially for femurs.  I stretched mine big time and it still wasn’t enough.  Now I have to do extra things like use knee immobilizers at night months before I would have had to normally.  Get your hamstrings as loose as possible before surgery or you may even have to get the tendons released.  I was tight but because of stretching I was at least able to avoid getting them released.  The only release I got was IT band which is really standard
