There is something I don't really understand though- I think someone in this thread said he was careful w/ food and cleanliness, was in 5 star hotels but still got stomach virus in Mumbai.

I wonder what foods in Mumbai will seem safe to consume but will not actually be safe to consume for newcomers? I imagine that is how it happened for the people on this forum who got sick, what do you think it most likely was?

How did he know it was a stomach virus and not a bacterial infection? I have never heard of the Stomach virus in adults. Even if you get the virus it'll go by itself in 1 week it's not a big deal. I've never got any stomach virus infection and I lived in India for the better part of my life.

It’s different for people who have lived there their most of their life vs Westerners coming for the first time. People who aren’t used to the food are more likely to get sick. As someone who’s been there many times, my advice is just stick to the nicer restaurants. Order delivery to your hotel and only drink bottled water. Don’t eat the street food and you should be fine.

Yeah hmm... Man Parihar looking like a tempting option over Giotikas. I was listening to intro Greek audiobooks in prep for Giotikas but am having second doubts. Just asking myself in my head "how would it be if I got a disease or stomach virus in Mumbai, can I decrease the odds of it to 0?"

Im 99% sure you wont even do it. you are too anxious. Im not scolding your or anything but you are seeking reassurance for short term anxiety. there will be no end to this.

you will then start asking if you have x complication how much does it cost in India vs greek. if that doesnt work you will have y complication how much does it cost in India vs Greek. how will you go to pt center? what if your credit card doesnt work? how will you use uber? does hotel provide cab service in India? what about Greece? how will you make final trip to airport? how will you fill prescription  in India vs Greece? what will you do if giotikas / parihar is out of town? who has better back up doctor ? what if you fall sick on the last day of your 90 days Greece visa? How easy is it to visit the AMerican consulate in Mumbai vs Greece for emergency?

you are planning for this after some years. just save the money until then. then do thourough research and write every single thing down. Share it withe forum and help others/

Anyway for someone with so much anxiety its better to minimize it by doing it in america. I would recommend Dr. Kevin Debiparshad. He charges 70k and has done over 50 cases already atleast.

short term anxiety can be relieved only short term. it will come back again and again

Hi @SpeedDialer... When you are in India, could you please make a video of yourself rushing to the toilet of your hotel room with your two broken legs, 5-10 times per day, to throw up or for diarrhea... It would be reallly interesting to see how a really motivated person can mobilize immediately after limb lengthening!! ;D...or , even better,  to see if a LL patient with diarrhea can actually make to the toilet seat or they will just shιt themselves! ;D

Some on this forum would say: "Yeah just buy diapers for adults and you're totally fine."
Look guys, just go to the place you feel the most comfortable. Some are anxious about going to India, others are anxious about going to Greece. Most of you have already made the decision subconsciously where you want to undergo this procedure, if at all.

Wtf lollll. Dude , what kind of a perception do you have of India? There are 2 Indias. One poor AF and one rich. It is a highly unequal country with 10000 rupee being the median income but that's not even gonna be enough for renting a 1 bhk apartment in some tier 2 city. You won't get a disease you privileged fat american. You people devour gallons of coke and a billion pizza slices everyday and are worried about getting stomach diseases in India? WhTttttttt. India is not THAT bad.

Since you're asking about parihar let me tell you he's one the most respected ones here. I know a few docs and they all have nice things to say about him. I would suggest you to take a hotel. India provides food and shelter to both the rich and the poor. If you're gonna be a cheap f### and go for some backward ghetto then blame India then you're retarded. If you want good services ,get your surgery done then immediately move to a 5 star hotel in Bombay. There are plenty. Bombay is the financial capital of India.

India isn't the only unequal country out there. Rich Americans, and Chinese put the Indian rich to shame, because they have a higher median. The average Chinese is 5x wealthier than the average Indian, the average American 30x.

The Indian people are capable of great achievements. I've met great Indian doctors and technologists in the UK. However, when half of India is still trying to get running toilets, and makes 2200 USD per year, the country is backwards compared to most of the world.

This is why people have apprehension about medical procedures in India, like the way some feel about Made In China products.

It's not THAT dirty. Come on. I've been to Germany(cousin lives there) and I've lived in india my entire life. India isn't THAT bad. Germany is awesome true. But there are over a billion people living here Ffs. You won't get a stomach virus and dirt virus and Ebola and cancer or any of that GOD. Chill.

Parihar as a doctor is good. What I can assure you of is that the guy is well respected here in India and isn't after anyone's money (unlike sarin). And also India isn't some virus hub. Although yes I hate Delhi and Bombay. Literally pollution hub. But it's still manageable.

If you have the money stay in the west or else if you wanna save up money come to India. A guy trained by Paley who is one of the best deformity experts of India versus best doc of a first world country well respected all over the world. The only difference is how much money they charge and infrastructure of their hospitals. That's it. Decide

Speaking for myself, when I was in Mumbai it seemed very similar to Shanghai, China - lots of big buildings, lots of people, lots of nightlife. There was even an EDM show or something in the hotel next to mine. I was in the hotel pretty much all the time later on though, but since I was paying for a 3 star hotel room and had internet, TV, and hotel staff that brought food from delivery apps or the hotel restaurant to my room. Plus, my physiotherapists were pretty good and Dr Parihar or Dr Ahuja were always reachable through Whatsapp or email.

If I had to do it again, I would still go to Dr Parihar even if his internal cases are lower. Inserting a nail something practically any orthopedic doctor can do.
