Judging from this older post from Dr. Betz

Is it possible that high altitudes can cause bad pain in internal nails? like taking a flight for example

the original text is in german but this is surprising… maybe it's not a problem for people who lengthen locally

This probably is my only issue because ive been pretty athletic in the last few years and going through the PT is probably the least of my worries, but this seems like a point of concern because i'm likely getting the procedure overseas, even though it probably would be in greece

"Another phenomenon is worth mentioning in this context in connection with the desired hermetic sealing of the components located inside the nail: in several cases I have experienced that patients while staying at higher altitudes beyond approx. 2000 meters, especially during return flights over extreme, have complained of untreatable pain. As soon as heights similar to sea level are reached again, the pain is gone. We have investigated this phenomenon and can only blame a gas leak from inside the system through the seal into the medullary cavity. This pain is so severe that it can usually not be treated with any pain medication.

Both points, both corrosion and extreme pain at great heights, are excluded in the case of the Betzbone®: there is no seal between the inner and outer nail components, the body fluid circulates freely and fills the inside of the nail immediately after implantation. I remember z. For example, a patient from Colorado who years ago was unable to return to higher mountains after having thighs lengthened due to unbearable pain. He had to do all of his renewal in Denver and do his work there. Understandably, when the lower leg lengthening with the Betzbone® was carried out years later, the patient had the same fear"

That's very interesting. Can anyone who has done internals overseas give insight into this?
