7cm Stryde more optimal than 8cm for athletic recovery?
« on: December 15, 2020, 11:17:45 PM »

Hey guys I have been extensively researching recovery nowadays since I am planning to do Stryde LL in the second half of 2021/end of 2021 at the latest I hope.

I have been reading 📚 so many patient diaries of Stryde 8cm guys but none seems to have overcome the dull nerve pain. Hell even Movie whom is considered to be in the top range in terms of recovery got nerve pain after kicking a heavy bag.

A little about me: I am currently 175cm and originally planned to do the full 8cm to reach 183cm but now will opt for 7cm for 182cm.

Although the full 8cm would be nice to reach the full 6 foot, I'm not convinced I could recover as effectively as I would like and that's very important to me.
I would still rather be a hair under 6 foot at 182cm and be able to eventually do boxing/muay thai/ju jitsu without nerve pain.

I have read some guys who did recover fully at 7cm. IMO 8cm and above is where nerve pain does not go away as you have lengthened the nerves of only one section of your body too far out.

I even remember a guy with my exact starting height mention something to this effect post surgery in his diary.

You will always recover better long term doing less cm. The reason these guys push for 8cm is because their starting height is much worse than yours so they need every cm.

Understandable. Also, I hear every cm after 5cm is when the risks for permanent reduction in athletic performance is real😟.

So really, I feel like the 8cm lengthening is for guys who really need it and don't care about athleticism and nerve damage.

It's all relative to you. Some people lengthen 10cm because their bodies allow it.

That's not what I'm trying to say. Sure your body could "allow it", would that be optimal for recovery in a reasonable timeframe for  those that wish to pursue moderately active lifestyle with reasonable functionality and minimal nerve pain?

There is a different between height gain maximalists and height gain optimality.

Less is more in terms of this surgery. Past 6cm for femurs and 4cm for tibias problems can start.

Femurs are better than tibias by miles. IMO tibias should be untouched.

I agree. I have already made a decision not to do 8cm no matter. I'm honestly teetering between 6 and 7cm atm.
7cm increase would put me at 182cm which is a big psychological number for me. Honestly if push comes to shove I'm also willing to settle for 6cm which would take me to 181cm if it means I can get my health back relatively unscathed by the time I get the rods removed.
