It does because breaking the bone and rimming it with nails can cause embolism, especially because you don't walk for the first days.
Also I really don't care what Paley said about aspirin after internals instead of blood thinners.
Giving anticoagulants is the easiest and most risk free thing after a major surgery like LL.
Doctors who don't give them must be joking and I really don't care if Paley is one of them which is very sad though.
how do u know this? have you studied medicine / ortho? paley has written a book on leg length surgery and corrections and its used widely. if he says I believe. I also thought its necessary to give blood thinners with stryde but am willing to change my mind if a reputed doctor says differently.
with the case of parihar i went thru penguin's diary and he was basically BED RIDDEN and on PRECICE 2 but still NO blood thinner. again I ain't no expert but it seems every doc would give blood thinner in such a case.
maybe a surgeon can tell after surgery how much "embolis" got created so he can take a decision based on that. medicines are apparently very cheap in India. I think parihar wouldve given them if it was necessary. but still patients gotta ask him if thy are concerned.
