1) yes there is a proportion between sleep and gh but I guess this does not cause serious height loss
2) When parents are short, children are short, but sometimes parents are short, even if they are short. I saw 168 mom Father 169 boy claim 183

Family ? Low gh or etc?

A heart problem when I was a baby and one of the antibiotics I had to take. Both caused stunted growth.
I ended up shorter than my dad and way shorter than my brother.
My doctors calculated that I lost at least 15cm of my final height because of that.

I'd consider you blessed with that height and wingspan knowing your parents were short. You play ball?

The vast majority of us is short only due to our genes.
It is stupid for someone with a 5.7 dad and a 4.8 mom to think that he became 5.6-5.7 because he didn't sleep enough. In reality, he is very lucky to even be at that height with that parents heights, especially an almost dwarf mother.

I have a 5.9 dad, a 5.2 mom and ended up 5.65 which is completely normal with my parents heights.
I smoked a little at 16yo and started gym at the same year but telling that I stunted my growth for that reasons is completely bs.
I may have ended 1-2 cm taller if I didn't so what? Stunted growth is not 1-2 cm but at least 5-6 and today only in countries with famine children face problems like these.

All of us here have our heights at 99% due to our genes.
Sleep, healthier nutrition and all these may have given to some of us, not even the majority, 1 inch at max, nothing  to make us not thinking about LL.
So stop thinking stupid reasons and just accept that our genes made us the heights we are (or were for veterans like me).

Yo dude u r8 to some extent but it is definately not 99% with genes its more like 60 to 70%...coz my parents are 5'7 and 5'1 probably and am 5'8 nearly...but my cousin mom and dad are 5 or 4'11 and 5'5 but he is 5'9 or 5'10 so yeah nutrition especially during puberty is very important coz my cuz surpassed my height only during puberty coz he had better nutrition at home and i was shipped off to some  ty boarding school with poor food supplies there...but i did get good marks though😅..and am a lot more intelligent thn him..way more..and he is doing some kind of non academic job with nearly no income..and am pursuing a mbbs degree.

If i was 15 again i would kill myself for trying sigaretes and alcohol at 15.6 years old (i was around 170-171 cm at that time), and would look for hgh asap

Also i never really have/had any troubles with sleeping but still i would have sleep as much as i can at this time
I think naturlly i would never end up like 190 cm or something(because of my short parents) but still could get an extra 5 cm +

Spot on!

Heritability allows us to examine how genetics directly impact an individual's height. For example, a population of white men has a heritability of 80 percent and an average height of 178 centimeters (roughly five feet, 10 inches). If we meet a white man in the street who is 183 cm (six feet) tall, the heritability tells us what fraction of his extra height is caused by genetic variants and what fraction is due to his environment (dietary habit and lifestyle). The man is five centimeters taller than the average. Thus, 80 percent of the extra five centimeters, or four centimeters, is due to genetic variants, whereas one centimeter is due to environmental effects, such as nutrition.

https://atlasofscience.org/stressful-childhoods-lead-to-shorter-adult-height-but-via-different-pathways-for-boys-and-girls/

The effect is not negligible with stature shortened by over a third of an inch boys from divorced families, and almost an inch for those who lost a parent through death.

Also, did you read the whole study?

Height is a heritable trait [44] so it is possible that short parental stature is passed on to children, and is also associated with a higher likelihood of premature death. This potential confounding is not possible to test with these data as we have no information about parental height.

You could still get 5cm in your mind.
Not in reality.

At least half teens do alcohol, smoke etc and many of them become very tall.
Other kids never did things like these and ended up short. So anyone would think that he could become taller for an X reason. But in reality, 90% of time he wouldn't.

Not everyone is born to become tall or average. Some people here can't accept it.

I always feel less guilty about my stress compared to my malnutrition and sleep deprivation. My sleep deprivation was very extreme. I always asked myself how much of it was my fault. Most nights, I just couldn't sleep or had to study for exams (procrastination). I only studied when I had an exam the following day. So it always took the entire night. But exams couldn't be everyday right. So there must have been days where it weren't for exams.

But other nights, I chose to listen to radio or watch soccer. I started watching soccer after WC 2006, after Barcelona won CL. So I had to be at least 13.5 by that time, was already smaller than average as I believe. In my country, Champions League was always at around 2AM. So I would purposely wake myself up even if I was already asleep. The same applied for La Liga which I also watched. But La Liga is sometimes on Saturday/Sunday. If it's Saturday, then no school the following the day. Sometimes still had to wake up early for Church though. Premier League is always much earlier (8-10PM). But Champions League and La Liga weren't everyday also. At most, each of them is once every week. And they had breaks also. So probably soccer isn't the one to blame. I don't know. By the way, just me ranting. lmao

I read about Randy Gardner who went 11.5 days straight without sleep at age 18. He wasn't short. He was most probably done growing at the time. But if he could do something so extreme, he probably had been practicing it since earlier age. I would love to ask him.
