Once Your Distal interlocking is done You would not loss a single mm in LON method .
if Any of proximal or distal pair of screw are bend or broken before consolidation You can loss height.
During distal interlocking (frame removal) there is always Upto 3 mm loss. To understand this if You did 5 cm during frame removal it will become 4.7 cm and this is your final height until unless pair of screws are not loose , bend or break before consolidation.

Thank you for this crucial info. I guess people should exceed their goal slightly while lengthening to compensate for the loss.

Yes I was thinking the same thing. Exceed it by 0.3 or would it vary from patient to patient? I mean is there any way to tell you exactly how much you would be losing before you actually have the frames removed?

Most of the Dr. Advise to their patients exceed your lengthening 3 mm more than your target. I think on average it is 3 mm .

It would be awkward in the case you did not lose height, then you would have surpassed the amount recommended or the “safe limit” by that much.

If the tibia is lengthened with external fixators without LON, can there be a height loss after removing fixators?

In pure external frame will be removed after consolidation ,so there is no chance to loss height, This is what i know
