How safe is Lim lengthening? your help is appreciated.
« on: January 10, 2020, 03:45:22 PM »

Hej,

I have been reading a lot on forum and elsewhere about limb lengthening. Some articles it says you can recover and some people here they say never 100% recovery. I truly need honest answer on that. do you come back to normal as before surgery? I am 173 I wanna make 6.5 or 7cm max. for how long I must be off? can I work from home without much physical moving at work? I am an architect own my company. I am in touch with Doctor salami in Germany how good is he?
Please advise.

I'm still doing well over 12 years later.  Not everyone is so lucky, but it's not like the surgery is some scam that cripples everyone who tries it.  I don't think anyone ever comes out 100% the same as before in terms of athleticism, but the tradeoff in height is worth it for most.

Recovery is a gradual process, so how long of a break you need from your regular life depends on how strenuous the physical activity you regularly do is.  Everyone goes from hospital bed to wheelchair to walker to crutches to walking at a different rate depending on the devices used, how much they lengthen, and how generally fit they are.

From the experience of myself and other folks at Paley's, the first month can be difficult -- it would be difficult to work for at least 2 or 3 weeks after surgery.  After that, you can probably work at least part time, however, it may not be advisable to work from a normal desk all that long; you may have to work lying down on a bed, .etc.

You probably could.

My legs feel like my legs, not artificial stilts.  Balance is a little worse due to the higher center of gravity though.  I never got any infections.  Had minor ballerina foot but that went away over time with standing, walking, and stretching.

I believe in terms of strength and flexibility you can get it all back and then some.

The difference is your proportions. Your legs are different, so you have to retrain your muscles and build new muscle memory to adapt. I think you can come back 110 percent if you set your mind to it, and accept no other outcome.

However, if you are looking to go with the flow, and not push yourself to the limit, and heal as normal, you will return back to walking without pain, but without the same coordination, balance, and muscle memory you had before.

the best option for faster recovery is Stryde femurs, internal nail with a magnetic mechanism to lengthen
Tibia usually take longer to lengthen and heal since 4 bones are involved, two tibias and two fibulas
Even with Stryde, usually many patients take narcotic painkillers which may make you feel dazy
Salameh frame is pure external
it will take so long to remove frames since you’ll need to wait till full consolidation
External is supposed to be much more painful
Also, there were some Salameh patients diaries in old forum, reporting very severe contractures
Some couldn’t return to normal life for 2 years

Logged
Plan to have Stryde TIBIAS surgery with Donghoon
Welcome any NEGATIVE information of Donghoon
Any doctor with more than 5% complication rate is NOT acceptable

There aren’t any European doctors I can recommend to my friends
The cheap surgery means externals frames
There’s No cheap and reliable internal method
All cheaper choices got much higher chances of complications
There is NO trustworthy doctors in Europe who’s doing externals decently
Even with LON or LATN, there is higher chance of severe pains which probably will prevent you to work while lengthening
Some even suffer PTSD for the prolonged torturous experience post surgery
You are an architect
Should be able to save more money to buy safety

Stryde, by design, only goes to max 8cm.

was this an exception or is this a common problem with Salamehfix?
