Just wondering how anyone who's done the surgery was able to manage to get the time off for the surgery. I see taking time off as a bigger obstacle than affording the surgery.

1) Be your own boss
2) Work remotely (e.g. Software Developer)
3) Be an University professor (4 months off during summer)
4) Work for years in a company that gives you a sabbatical year
5) Have enough saving to quit your job for 6-months to an year. And be good enough to be sure you can be hired again later.
6) Have a rich family

This is what bothers me about LL, all these questions are so necessary for dozens of responses and viewpoints and all of you old fart veterans either don't care and yet you were in our position too (pre LL).... I just wish this community communicated better because we would all benefit from it

I have no clue how I am going to be able to find the time to do this or the money even ..... The prospects are scary and the encouragement is low

Dude, I gave you 6 examples/suggestions of how to get time for the surgery.
Those were examples of fellow LL'ers that I met during months in Germany.
What else you want?

What you need time off from is what matters here, and since that wasn't shared, of course you won't get many ideas from other members.

Well in the early twenties this surgery is alot to handle even though ive been thinking about it for about 7 years. I meant to say that I am probably going to be working a 9-5.... and more or less the fears of being able to afford the surgery, successfully complete it, and get back to work .... all without causing a crisis.

I think you should be less paranoid, if you leave so you will end up not doing the surgery
