On one hand, hey its exercise. On the other hand, its more stress to your system and your arms will be weaker/tired for when you use your walker. Do the doctors typically recommend you exercise your upper body in some way during the distraction phase?

I've heard people on this forum suggest getting some of those rubber band style exercise equipment, which seems easy enough for lower resistance bands.

Personally I'm against it.  The body is going through a lot; no reason to take resources away from the legs.  I got more than enough upper body exercise by using a wheelchair and walker.

One guy in Beijing brought a big dumbell and used it regularly.  He did fine.  It probably doesn't make much difference.
