Limb Discrepancy (Female)
« on: September 27, 2019, 07:55:24 PM »

Hello. I’m a girl and I was born with uneven arms (humerus), but I like the small one more, so I would prefer to shorten the length of the other. I did some research, but so far I have only found doctors who do arm lengthening. Does anyone know about doctors who perform arm shortening?

it doesn’t affect my life too much in the physical way, but it does affect me very much psychologically, because the difference of length between my arms is noticeable.

be aware that shortening is much more difficult than lengthening.

Most doctors don't perform limb shortening and there must be a reason for that.
The best option is to lengthen the shorter arm with precice 8.5mm diameter nail or just live with the discrepancy.

I cant imagine many would be happy to do it to be honest, however an ilizarov surgeon could do it, they have the know how as trauma patients are often shortened to remove dead bone and then re-lengthened.
