Hello Guys,

I´m planning to do a leg lengthening at January next year. But im not sure right now if i should lengthen my femur or tibia.

Femur length in (cm) : 41
Tibia length in (cm) : 37

I want to go for like 5 cm.  I often read here that femur and tibia not should have the equal length or tibia dont should be longer than the femur. Could you make some suggestions for which one i should go?

Hi Polski

I think you should think about the money, time, and safety prior to the ratio or which part of legs. 

Femurs need to be done by internal nails while tibias can be done by external device or internal nails.  Internal method is always way more expensive than external device.  This price difference seems to be the biggest concerning factor for most of ppl.  If money and time is not your concern, I recommend you to go for femurs, because you can recover faster and will have much less complications or future problem, as compared to tibias. 

If you need to care about money, you don't really have much choice.  In this case, you will likely need to do external tibias.

Thanks for your answer Ghostfish. I think money dont should be priority number one while planning a LL. But i only want to go for one surgery. I´m just asking because I don´t want to ruin the femur/tibia ratio. So is it better to lengthen my tibia and getting an equal length of femur and tibia or i should go for femur .
Does sb. know how much longer in (cm) femur is compared to the tibia?

i think the good ratio between them is 5:5 . you can see usain bolt have longer tibia than femur . it still ok

what is your real height ?

in internal you can go upto 8 cm but external you can go max 7cm if possible 7.5 cm. internal is 3 times more expensive than external so think over it then decide. cause thr is no price for per cm. its a package price if your body permit and if doctor give you green signal then you can go more cm.

My actual height is 174cm. Im planning to do 5-6cm. I asked for your opinions what do you think will look better? Femur/Tibia equal Length OR Femur 10cm more than tibia?

tibia. cause its look you tall. 5 cm is good for you. go for it. if you want go more.

i have near equal Femur Tibia(may be 1 inch different) . its not problem. also tibia recover quickly. but plz ask your doctor before LL.
