6 cm internal tibias with fitbone
« on: June 30, 2019, 05:15:22 AM »

Conducted the surgery last Tuesday in Saudi’s Arabia with doctor al sayyad very good doctor, i should expect to lengthen from 162cm to 168cm. First 4 days post surgery were hell from the catherter to the leg pain to constant vomitting from the medicine. As of today and yesterday I have calmed down a bit and I’m expecting to be released today hopefully

Cost me around 90k usd, pain is a lot better now but struggling with depression since I can’t walk and have been stuck in my room for around a month now. Also been forced to wear an ankle fixator to avoid ballerina foot which is torture

Being indoors and not being able to go out is the real battle. Just keep reminding your self how comfortable you will be in you own skin once it done.

Do you have family or friends that stay with you? Or you decided to do this alone?

Yeah I stayed for there for the first two weeks and now I’ve been in my country with my family for 3 weeks. The constant need for help with every little thing and the dependency for little things is annoying as hell. And the thought of having to stay in a bed for another 2 months is devistating. But as you said the couple of inches are what keeps me going

I know how you feel, even though am doing one leg at a time, I still get seen as less abled and need help from others every now and then. Very happy to hear that you have family support. Also even though you are relying on others alot, it is only temporary :)

What is the first think you plan to do once it's over?

do keep us posted, I look forward to reading your diary.

The more doctors the better. Hopefully the more doctors doing this surgery the more competitive they'll become which will help to diminish costs.

90K  USD in Saudi Arabia is incredibly expensive, not to mention the country is considered dangerous for westerners

90k usd is somewhat expensive but he’s a top level doctor who’s been doing this for a very very long time and the fitbone nail isn’t cheap. Saudi Arabia isn’t as it used to be the country isn’t that religious anymore.

Update 5 months post op left leg consolidation is decent right leg is behind so I’m still not allowed to walk outside the house. And I’ve developed ballerinas foot so I can only walk with shoe lifts.

No pain when I walk but today I developed pain around the knee area for some reason, the doctor told me to do atl surgery but I prefer to try and fix it on my own for the time being.

Don’t do ATL
Balerina should be managed by stretching
He’ll fck up your legs
Don’t trust everything that Monegal says

Update: its 6 months post op left leg consolidation is pretty good now and right leg is lacking a lot as the bone hasn’t even bridged yet, heard that walking is good for bone stimulation so I’m trying to walk around in the house more. Ballerina is still bad so I hired some physiotherapists who claimed that the issue can 100% be fixed, time will tell...
