Hi,

I'm new to this forum far as posting goes.
I was told before the consolidation rate for femurs was 2-2.5 mos per cm lengthened.
That didn't sound right to me so I wanted to double check with veteran LLers what the rate would be if I were to do 6.5cm.

Not sure if I'm understanding correctly, but I'm scheduled for surgery, internal femurs with Precise 2 in January 2018,  my understanding is that,  it will be roughly 90 lengthening depending on the amount of CMs my body tolerates, and then 30 days consolidation to be able to weight bear.  I may not be 100% consolidated but certainly enough to weight near. Of course this is of course barring any setbacks or complications God willing.

The way you understand it,  it means 16 months + to consolidate, assuming the full 8 CMs.

Yes 30 days for femur consolidation (again give a few weeks in the event your bones don't consolidate as expected).

From other patients of Dr M I've been in touch with,  that is the case.  After lengthening stops,  it's roughly 30 days to consolidate and be walking.  The rods are a different story.  The rods stay in for 12-14 months, perhaps that is the true/full consolidation period.   You can jog roughly 60-90 days after your 30 days of consolidation.

Hoping these timeframes hold true for me.  It's right around the corner.

Only 30 days to consolidate for 8 cm in femur? After 30 days are you able to fully weightbear? I'm not an expert but I think the callus is still soft by then.

What about the consolidation rate for internal tibiae? If you are doing 2 stage when do you think it's safe to perform surgery for the second leg?
