Question from anonymous patient. You've had LL and you get a toenail fungus. Is there any possibility you get an infection and ostheosynthesis material is compromised?

Yes there is a possibility, if you are under a bad inexperienced team of doctors/nurses. But with good doctors it's unlikely to happen since they keep monitoring and asking you to clean the pinholes regularly, use only sterile dressings and change regularly. Unless of course the patient is extremely careless then everything is possible

Thanks but the situation isn't like that. There aren't fixators involved, just internal ostheosynthesis material, and LL is already finished. Is there any possibility you get an infection and ostheosynthesis material is compromised?

Oh I see, unfortunately I don't know much about internal methods complications. I can give you an answer but it's better to wait for someone who knows more about internal methods complications. My answer above was for the osteomyelitis that sometimes happen as a complication for the external lengthening due to bone fungal infection.
