tibia lengtheners veterans advice?
« on: July 28, 2017, 12:10:55 AM »

what is the optimal condition of your legs that may contribute to the optimal recovery and/or decent cm lengthening on tibias?
1- I suppose being flexible is a must (?)
are there any specifics? stretching regiment, specific muscles?
2- how about muscle size of the calfs? I dont have a huge muscle on my calfs (to say the least), but im not sure if this is an advantage or the contrary... Ive learned somewhere that too big of muscle may not be an advantage while lengthening, does that mean that low volume muscle is better?
got some contradictory information regarding this issue..
3- balerina foot - any flexibility specifics (prior to LL) may lessen the potiential of this complication?

thanks a lot for any tip

Nothing will really hell prior to LL.
The only you can do is during LL to stretch and stand as much as you can to avoid excessive bf, lengthen at a slow rate (0.5-0.7 mm per day) and stop lengthening when you have more than about 2cm bf.
If you are ok with all these and you avoid malunions (that has to do with doctor) then you are going to be ok.

No reason to do crazy sttetchings or work out before LL. The difference will be from minimum to zero.

Why does pre-LL stretching not help? Isn't it the same idea as stretching post op?

There's nothing you can do really, unless you already have issues with ankle dorsiflexion. One thing can make your lengthening experience better is lengthening at a slower rate - that will decrease pain and complications. Problem is premature consolidation.

No. Even if you stretch a lot before LL if you don't stretch during LL then nothing matters.
So doing stretches before LL will do 1-2% difference, while stretching and standing during LL will help at least 30% in reducing bf.
But still every body is different. Someone could handle 6cm lengthening without even pt while others would have massive bf with 5cm lengthening and a lot of pt.
But the general rule is that stretching during LL helps a lot.
