Doing LL twice?
« on: March 25, 2014, 09:28:53 PM »

I would like someone to advice me if it will be a good idea doing LL twice. I know that the more you lengthen during one surgery (for example 8cm and above) the higher the risk.
What I am planning on lengthening is:

5-7cm Femurs
5cm Tibiae

It will also look proportional. What do you guys think?

This seems like the new idea most people are leaning towards.  This certainly is my plan. Athletic ability and being close to if not the having the same abilities pre LL

I'm down for this too mate :D Though i'm gonna push it a little and juice out about 5.5 to 6 cm in Tibiae and 6 to 6.5 to 7 cm in Femur. A little more risk involved but it depends on how well the surgery gets in the coming years. Have you chosen any doctors yet? :) How much are you willing to spend?

I dont think it wise to do LL twice not only the physical potential problems but also the emotional and psychology drain that would occur from doing LL. Furthermore, you are trading away years off your life, which you could actually used to enjoy life.

Great so we both have the same goal :D I did choose my doctors how about you? And what do you mean by ''a little more risk involved'', the fact that you will lengthen twice or the amount of cms?

I do not mind trading away years off my life to become taller. I'm not living anyway from how depressed I am for my height. I would do anything to change it so it doesn't really bother me.

if you think you need to lengthen more than 8cm
then yes go for 2 parts, started with femur 6-7cm first.. you may would be satisfy with this amount of gain and you wont demand another LL

My diary. Tibias+femurs 3.75+3.75cm at the Paley Institute (5'5" -> 5'8") in my late 30s.
One of the last patients to use the PRECICE 2.2 nail. I met the first STRYDE patient and I strongly recommend the new STRYDE nail instead.

I am 5'6" and you?

I was actually thinking about that but there is also a chance that I might not be satisfied. Other than that, my height will be much better after the first surgery rather than my current one.

That's insane lol but I guess we are on the same boat? We can understand how he feels though

I was 5'5, now after LL I'm almost 5'8.

I too was caught up in numbers before LL, but once you do it, it will lose importance. Most people are satisfied by gaining less than what they initially aimed for. What matters at the end is how you'll feel when you stand up amongst other people. Realizing that you're at other people's eye level (even though you're still slightly shorter than them) is very comforting and suddenly being shorter doesn't matter anymore.

Oh sadboy, what i meant by that was every cm above 5 is kinda like a slightly more added risk. So i just meant it in that context.
