Questions for people who have done LL
« on: February 17, 2017, 10:52:26 PM »

Sorry for this long questionnaire type thing. These are my only concerns about the surgery and it would mean the world to me if you guys could answer them with a little bit of detail.

- For how long can you run without feeling any pain?

- Can you walk a full day without feeling pain?

- Do you avoid looking in mirrors while nked (or clothed) because you're unhappy with your proportions?

- If you were being chased by a serial killer or running after your dog sprinting through traffic, would you be able to make it?

- Do you feel like you could go hiking or biking?

- How long ago did you get LL? Are your frames out?

- How long did you lengthen, and in which segment?

- If you do feel pain, how much, and would you say that it has even slightly reduced your quality of life & "outgoing'ness" ?

- Has anyone commented on your proportions? Sitting height? Anything? Did it bother you at all? Or do you just brush off matters like this because overall, as a net, being taller is worth the trade off?

- Does walking feel natural and fluid? How about running? Can you watch videos of yourself and see that you did LL? Do you have any anxiety about seeing videos, or photos, of yourself or having them shared?

- Did LL change the way people treat you? Family, friends?

- How do you feel when you wake up in the morning (emotionally and physically)?

Data: Male, 40+ years old, 174cm, 14 months post surgery, 7,5 cm femurs Fitbone

For how long can you run without feeling any pain?

I haven't removed my rods yet; I won't run until they are out. I have done very slow jogging on the beach, about 400m each "sprint" or 5 minutes. No pains.

- Can you walk a full day without feeling pain?

Yes, I walk a lot in my work every day and I do not feel any pain.

- Do you avoid looking in mirrors while nked (or clothed) because you're unhappy with your proportions?

No, I am happier than before the surgery with my proportions.

- If you were being chased by a serial killer or running after your dog sprinting through traffic, would you be able to make it?

Not applicable as yet.

- Do you feel like you could go hiking or biking?

Yes, last weekend I went for a 5 km hike and even had to squat downwards in some caves. I had some pains in my left knee afterwards but after a day of rest they went away.

- How long ago did you get LL? Are your frames out?

See above.

- How long did you lengthen, and in which segment?

See above.

- If you do feel pain, how much, and would you say that it has even slightly reduced your quality of life & "outgoing'ness" ?

I only feel pain after a vigourous workout, and only in my left knee. I suspect it has something to do with the screws or the tightness in my left hip flexors. As I think it will disappear completely when the rods are removed, I am not worried at all.

- Has anyone commented on your proportions? Sitting height? Anything? Did it bother you at all? Or do you just brush off matters like this because overall, as a net, being taller is worth the trade off?

No comments at all on proportions.

- Does walking feel natural and fluid? How about running? Can you watch videos of yourself and see that you did LL? Do you have any anxiety about seeing videos, or photos, of yourself or having them shared?

Yes, walking is natural. People have commented that I am now walking the same as before the "accident".

- Did LL change the way people treat you? Family, friends?

Yes, but only from people I see rarely or for the first time. They are quite surprised and usually comment on how good I look. Family and friends treat me the same, they think I got bigger / more muscular, but probably attribute it to better health.

- How do you feel when you wake up in the morning (emotionally and physically)?

Absolutely fantastic

LL has been probably the best decisiĆ³n of My Life. People Who did Ll and arent happier after It is because they were not good candidates for this becuse of their initial height or expectations. I was thinking about LL for 11 years before My surgery. And been embarrased about My height all My Life.
I have felt how height changes your Life. People treats you better. Its hard to Said but IS like night and day to be 5'5 or 5'8.

Wow thanks guys. Your replies made my day. Can't wait to get this over with. Yeah I imagine 5'5 to 5'8 would be a huge difference, because 5'5 is a height where the first thing people notice when they see you is how small you are. But at 5'8 no one will really care, their mind doesn't even bring attention to it.

I'm lengthening right now and cannot say anything about how life is afterwards. BUT last Tuesday, I was on my university campus, because I had to hold an important presentation.
I took all my courage and came in a wheelchair. Most already knew about what I was doing, so they just came to me asking how I'm doing and no other questions.
When it was my turn, I sat in front of like 100 people. I used to be so insecure because of my height and now the wheelchair technically made me even shorter.
But my insecurity was (almost) gone, just because I'm doing LL :D This is a life-changing procedure, no question about it and I can already see in part how it will affect me after LL.

I sometimes had the crazy thought that even if I were paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair for life, I would still do LL just to be "theoretically" taller. Insane, I know.

How did the doctors and health care staff in Germany react, at your visits after your surgery. Were some of them weirded out for what you did?

I'm a solid 5.9 (about 1.75,5) on the morning and about 5.85 (1.73,5-1,74)  most of the day and night.
I was about 1.68 before LL.

Yes, no man will call you short and especially if you have muscles like me most of the men give you compliments about your body.
But many women tell me that I'm not short but neither tall enough for them and generally my height is still a problem in dating, of course not like my preLL height which was a disaster for dating but still I'm not tall enough for many many women.
And I speak for women less than 5.7. Even my last very hot gf (about 5.5 or 1 cm less)  although she kept telling me that I'm handsome and muscular, she told me a lot of times some jokes about my height.

When I was 5.65, I thought that when I hit 5.9, height will never be an issue in dating.
But unfortunately, it still is although I'm very social, have a good job and some good muscles and face. I have much more choices than before of course but I still don't have any social benefit of height and I see many of my taller friends having easier dates although they are worse in everything compared to my, except from height.

So, LL will improve your life when you reach 5.8, but don't expect any crazy difference. You won't have the social stigma of being short but you would still try hard for something that a 5.11+ guy with moderate appearance will have much easier, especially on dating.

I never thought I'd say something like that when I was 5.65 and that 5.9 would have completely changed my life but that's the harsh truth.
The real deal is 5.11 or at least a solid 5.10 some times. The closer you are to that the best your life will be. But nothing will change drastically beyond that height.

This is interesting. How old are you bodybuilder? If you don't mind me asking. I plan on doing ll at 28 but wonder if it's even worth it at my age

Which country are you from that 174cm is still a major problem in the dating scene?

^ Haha, damn that sucks sorry bro. I'm 5'4.5 and only once has one of my girlfriends has ever told me she wished I was a little bit taller. But I guess it's probably because I'm so short that it's probably something that obviously bothers me. Maybe they're more playful around 5'8 since it's "short" but not such a big deal?

Honestly, I understand that I'll still have issues dating and I know that 6'+ guys will forever live dating, to some extent, life, on a much easier mode, but at least it won't be a part of my IDENTITY. When you're shorter than 5'6 your height is something that a lot of people won't get over and it kind of clouds your entire identity. I just don't want people to look at me and only see my height.

Haha, at least you wouldn't have to deal with muscle atrophy  :P

I looked for doctors willing and skilled enough to take care of me before I went abroad to have my surgery. So they were okay with what I did.
Talking to their staff or other specialists they are sending me to is a totally different story though. When they see my primitive fixators, many think that I was injured badly at first. But they are far from being stupid and then quickly realize that I'm doing "limb reconstruction" (from their point of view) for cosmetic reasons. So I have to answer questions several times of course, but they never really judge me. The first time I met the radiologist, she couldn't really understand why I'm doing this, because she is shorter than me. But she also noted that she had been seeing far more weirder things during her career like people having self-implanted electrical devices in their body, or people having tools in their genitals and rectums :o  ;D ;D ;D
So at least, I'm not the weirdest :D

Yves, I am 28 years old too and I did LL before 5 years.
Of course LL worths at that age and for even older men. Imo it completely worths it if you are even 35 years old and you see that your height have made your life mediocre compared what it will be if you reach a better for your self esteem height.
But some times expectations are much bigger than reality.
Personally, I used to have great relationships with hot girls when I was 5.65 but it wasn't that my height didn't matter, I was just lucky to find girls that didn't bother about that.
But now that I am more attractive than ever (men close to 30 years old are far better most of the times than men under 25) and wiser and of course with much more experience with women, i've told many times that if I was 5.11 I'd have been the perfect man but now I am good but something is missing.
I feel very angry that after all I did, women think that my height is not a big drawback but still something not enough to put me at the same dating league with much more average looking men compared to me with less muscles and a worse face but with 5-10 cm more height.

It is ridiculous but now, more than ever, I truly believe that if you are tall and just average in all other aspects you have much more chances than a good looking and muscular but a little beyond average height man like me.
If you are short, then you have to be very lucky to have a good looking and normal in every aspect gf. I was that lucky before LL but I couldn't see it. Now, I see the truth and, because I believe that true men make their own luck, I give my best self on dating and improve myself. But height is keep mentioned from a lot of girls and as I said, even my last gf who im the begining kept telling me how good I was, after some time she kept tolding me some jokes about my height although I never talked about that or showed any sign of height complex.
It is insane that many women don't think that a good looking man with a relatively good job, muscles more than the 90% of other men and a lot of interests is not enough for them compared to an average in everything else but tall man.
But that's the way it is and that's why I think that women are much more superficial than men.
So you could accept that and try to find a girl that doesn't care about all these (rare but it exist) or you do LL and play with your rules.
I already chose the second and I seriously think about a second LL in my femurs when I have the money (about 2 years from now) for a good doctor with internal devixes to reach a solid 5.11 and never have any problem with height again.

Tibike I always kept my country a secret but is is a country in south Europe where average height for men is 1.78 and for younger ages like mine is about 1.80.
But after all it doesn't matter where I come from because everywhere in the west societies, heights less than 5.10 for men causes problems in dating and especially if you are under 5.8 things become very hard.
I don't say that you don't have choices at my height but I still think that if a lot of women keep commenting about your height in a not positive way, then your height is still a drawback. Maybe not something that you can't get away with but for me, I don't want anything to hold me down, especially something that I tried very hard to change and many men have for granted and have so many benefits from it because they were just lucky to be born tall.

Anyway, 5.8-9 is a respectable height and I'm sure it will change many short peoples lives when they reach it.
But for me, things get real when you hit 5.11 or a little beyond and I hope in less than 2 years to be there. Until then, I'll do my best to make my life better and more interesting everyday.  8)

To be honest, it's a very sad update

5.65 -> 5.85 isn't that big of a change honestly. I mean yes now he's dating a 5'5 girl which probably would've had 0 chance of happening before.

The ideal, very best, and I think most life changing procedure overall would be 5'5 -> 5'10. Just two completely different leagues.

But I think this is all very relative and anecdotal lol. Imagine you get LL and then fall into depression afterwards for unrelated reasons like family death. Or imagine you get LL and then meet a girl who was taller than your starting height. Some people will say this surgery changed their lives, others will say it barely had any effect.
