Topic: If you had to do a total of 13cm, what would your strategy be? (Read 4732 times)

Hello folks,

Just out of curiosity. I know it sounds a bit crazy, but if you had to lengthen a total amount of 13cm, how much would you do per segment (2 operations, one for each segment), which doctors and why?

13 cm is doable but not a good deal unless you are very short. How tall are you?

I'm just slighty below average for Europe. I always thought my dream height was 12cm above mine, and I even chatted a bit with a vietnamese doctor who said he could do it for a very good price (7cm + 5cm). But after measuring myself some times, I've realized that I'm 1cm shorter than what I used to think. I admit I'm a bit obsessed with that "ideal height", that exact number, and the whole idea of being unable of reaching it in my whole life brings me anxiety and sadness... I don't really care about proportions, I just need to walk again and be that height. I'm aware this is greedy, but it's the thing I wish the most in my life.

Don't get obsessed Koi. If you are just slightly above average I wouldn't advise 13 cm. 7 cm could be perfect. If you do 13 cm you have greater risks of limping for the rest of your life than if you do 7 cm.

If i would be aiming for 13cm the best strategy would be searching for cheapest wheelchair on amazon.

The feeling of being doomed to be unable to achieve it in my whole life actually feels like if it burned inside me... really.

Thank you both for your advice, anyway. However, may I ask if getting one surgery done then waiting enough time until getting the second one would, by any chance, make it viable?

I know how crazy it sounds, but even reading this brings me some relief back, somehow.

I'll try to talk with that doctor and see if he can do 7.5+5.5, 8+5 or 7+6.

Don't be greedy. 7 cm is good enough for people who aren't too short. 3 years for both? Really? If it goes OK yes but there are people who have spent 3 years just for femurs

Yes, they wanted to spend some months and it was years finally just for femurs

7 femur+5 tibia, go for tibia first, will be the toughest part. So are you 172 cm??? If you want to recover well I would advise taking a break between the two surgeries, a quadrilateral procedure is hell, no for fat embolism if not for what it implies.

Yeah, I have definitely discarded quadrilateral procedure. I'll probably do tibias first, and then femurs after a big gap.

7+5 is 12 though, was aiming for 185cm, so I guess I could split that cm (actually it's ~0.9cm) between those two segments, like 7.4 + 5.5 or something.

I'm 171 and would be at least 178, at best 183

It is good, if you are almost 171 cm you could be a good 5 10" with one surgery and a good 6 foot tall with the second surgery.

Just do 12 cm, that 1 cm is less than half an inch and no one would be able to tell by looking at you anyway. You'd still be over 6 ft. Close enough to your goal that I'm sure no one will question you if you tell them you're 6'1.

5 and 7 would be good though. I still think you should consider internal femur.

Do femur first as its advisable by Paley, Rozgburch and different experts. Femur first and then i think you will forget about the second part. Good luck

If money is not a problem, without thinking go for femurs with a reputable doctor and get the three inches as soon and as safe as possible.

6 tibs

5 tibs and 7 femurs OR 5.5 tibs and 6.5 femurs. These are the absolute safe limits individually so should also be safe aggregate wise (12 cm). Recommended would be 10 cm. 13 cm is a bit too much.

Do 4-5cm´s if you are only slightly below average in europe, I assume you must be around 178cm. 10cm´s+ will seriously damage your body and will cost you a lot of money, don´t be greedy.
