hanna your xrays look great at 7cm!

are you taking silical ? doing forteo? or any electronic bone stimulators?

No, I only take Calcium and Magnesium, but I use my exercise bike for 2-3hours per day. That increases the blood flow and therefore helps the body to heal.

Yes, I use a special cream for scars called "Contractubex", I have the impression that the scars get lighter with this cream.

Yeah I bet you're right, it's vital importance :-[ ...

You have now great long legs..and even though I cant judge about the proportion from this pic, (because of the angle of the pic) but I think you still have good proportion ..
few days ago I saw Korean singer has very long femurs  but she looks so great
BTW she has the same height as yours..

I, myself, can see, that my femurs are longer than normally, but it doesn't look strange. I guess for girls it's not a disfavour to have longer legs. :)

Hey Hanna!

Congratz for reaching your lengthening goal and your legs look great with minimum scarring :)

I am just wondering if your were flexible before surgery and do you reckon it helped you reach 9 cm with lesser muscle pain/tightness?

Also what stretching did you do while lengthening besides physical therapy?

Cause I am planning to lengthen 6cm on my femur with PRECICE2 and your experience will be really helpful.

Thanks!

Yes, I was flexible before surgery, but not super flexible. I did the best I could to prepare me and I guess, what helped a lot was, that I only lengthened 0,7-0,8mm per day.
Your doctor and physiotherapist will show you exercises you can do on your own without harming the nail. It did simple stretching exercises that you can do while sitting or lying. And I cycled a lot, I have the impression, it also helped me to stay flexible.

Hanna,
Do LLers in betzland walk on stairs after surgery? I heard most LLers of dr. Betz goes back to work after 2-3 weeks. I am curious how do they able to drive and walk uneven surface such as stairs.

Please let us know what you see. I really want to do this in May but need to return home to get back to work. I can work from home office so is it even possible?

Thanks much!

Hello Cooper,

Yes, you are able to take stairs. I learned it from my physiotherapist one week after surgery. You need strong arms for it, maybe you can workout (more) before surgery in order to prepare yourself.
I drive my car to go to rehab center, it's possible, although it's not recommended, cause (at least in Germany) in case of an accident you can get into trouble with your insurance.

11 days of Recovery behind me I see a little progress, so far. My knee flexion is getting better and I feel that my legs are getting stronger, but concerning my duck-ass I don't see much progress, so far. Ok, it's only 11 days... But sometimes I have days when I feel down or depressed, it's really a long way to go and a long long time on crutches, you can't imagine the situation till you actually do LL. However I'm an optimist and most of the time I keep on being positive. :)

I don't have pain (not exceeding a 1-2 on a scale of ten, so I wouldn't call it pain at all), only medication I still take is Xarelto (to prevent thrombosis) and Calcium/ Vitamin D and Magnesium.
At the weekend I was at a swimming-pool for several hours, that was so great. After that my legs were so relaxed and flexible! I plan to go swimming more often.

I keep you informed about my further recovery.

Thanks for the post.

By how many months should the duck-ass disappear on the average?

but concerning my duck-ass I don't see much progress, so far. Ok, it's only 11 days...

Hey Hanna!))

well Im doing tibias and external, but I think the mental challenges are pretty similar. I would suggest you to not create much expectations about your progress, just take it day by day just like when you were lengthening is not that much different from the emotional point of view. You will not notice the improvement from day to day, but after weeks you will look back and realize that there is progress, very small but there is. Sometimes is very difficult to see progress when there is always something bothering you. Some times I cant even feel the progress, but it only takes me 5 second to look back in time maybe 1 month and I see a huge difference in every aspect)) Just try to keep calm, dont get to excited if your feel much better because you put your self in a position to also get down and feel worse. So just take it day by day. The hardest part of my consolidation is just keeping calm, because when I was lengthening in a way i felt great to know that everyday I was growing!! but now there is no growing there is only waiting and feeling better.

swimming is great if you can do it, actually my doctor recommends swimming after frame removal, it helps the muscles a lot!
stay strong and keep calm, one warm hug for you sirter!))

Hanna,

I want to do 9cm on my femurs as well. My only concern have you experienced any knee pain from the larger femur:tibia ratio?

I am only do one ll so I want to make sure I am not forced to do Tibias to correct my ratio and stop the knee pain like tall in old forum

Thank you for your encouraging words, RGKEY :-)
This journey requires much patience, it's said so easy that you have to walk a few months on crutches. But I guess, I'm doing quite good.

@rickybobby: no, not yet and I hope that I will never develop knee pain, at least before I'm 80 years old ;-) I'll keep you updated.

Hey Hanna,

Glad to hear about your progress, even a little progress is great. I want to ask you what Dr. Betz told about the crutches, when you will be able to move without them? Is it a couple of months during consolidation or something like that?

I will ask him on friday, when we take new x-rays. He told me in january that I could walk unaided by the end of April. But I'm a very careful person and will wait what the x-rays show on friday and then again in 6 weeks, before I risk to walk without crutches too early.
