Hello folks,

Is it possible to go from 1.73cm (5'8") to 1.85cm (6'1")?
How many operations (I'd say 2 are enough but I read sometimes it's better to do a third operation once the bones are consolidated again) and how many cm per segment? Average cost (I know it can vary a lot depending on the doctor)? Suggested doctors for this kind of operation? Estimated time of every operation/recovery?

I know I'm asking many questions, but I've read many different things and I'd really appreciate if someone could answer them.

10cm would still put you at 6 feet that's a really good height on a global scale

Thank you very much for your answers. I guess Morissette is right, 6' is a good height. I'll try to avoid getting obsessed with those 2 missing cms, I guess they may even remain unnoticed, and can always grt covered with the appropiate shoes, etc.

Anyway, I find it curious that everyone is aware that 10cm is the limit, while some doctors claim they can lengthen up to 12-14cm. Is that a myth?

If you don't care about using your legs after the surgery sure, go for it.

12cm is doable but the higher you go the riskier recovery is doesn't mean you would never be able to enjoy a nice hike anymore or go for a run but there's more risk. If you were really short maybe it would be worth it but again you'd already be at 6 feet nobody would call you short or think you were short

You're right. I shouldn't assume such risk for something that doesn't even make any difference.Thanks a lot for your last reply, too.

I'm impressed how quickly the people in these forums reply. All your answers have been helpful and supportive. Thank you very much, really. I like this community, and I'm sure we all have many things in common (since we have probably been living from a similar perspective, share similar thoughts and faced the same problems...). What is your sitting height just for curiosity, mine at 5 8" was 89 cm and now 5 9" is 37 inches.

Theoretically the best increase total is 13 CM.

Idk but at 166cm i have 91cm of sitting height lol.

That's American average different ethnicities have different proportions.

You have something to back it up? I'm curious.

And ye, i know i have a bit long torso but i was more about him being 185cm with 92sh.
For example Apo has like 91cm of sitting height but he is 6'2 and his proportions are terrible.

I found a chart back in march online that compared sitting height to standing height ratios with age groups I'll look for it and post the link. And yea I agree that would be out of proportion one of the reasons you should never go from 5"5 to 6+

I see my torso very long, but taking a good measurement is only 92 cm, where do legs finish in the body, like 6 cm below the navel or where?

Ah... today I measured myself and I'm not even 1.73... somewhere between 1.72 and 1.73...

Although I'd say I was far taller than 1.73 when I woke up, maybe I should improve my measurement methods, hahah

I think you should stop at 6 ft. Less risky and you'd already be tall? I don't think that extra inch is going to matter that much. You'd be considered taller than average everywhere, except maybe the Netherlands where you would probably be the average male height. And considering they're the tallest people in the world, 6 feet sounds great to me.
