I think the main issue with Dr Betz LL is bent/broke nail. I haven't read (it doesn't mean there is none) delayed bone healing.

Some surgeons differ in their individual techniques. Dr Paley certainly is one of the authorities in LL but Europeans almost always differ in their style from the Americans (and not only in Orthopedics).

(There's already a thread re: Betz complications.)

how is one doctors opinion regarded as gospel and a fact?
in medical science, doctors have all their own opinions. These kind of things cannot be taken as facts unless it can be proved to be 100% correct.
I am sure Dr. Betz has an explaination for his way of nailing and fixing the fibular.

kusop,

why would the top LL surgeons but all the distal fibular screws in a angle then? I realize that lee was trained by paley but dr. roz does it as well.

What does guichet do? does he do tibias?

how about waiting for Betz to come home from his 1 week vacation so he can answer your all questions? Stadiometer and his clone accounts are well and truly going for the kill on all doctors but parley.

I wish someone would ban Stadio and all his clone account just like sysop/apotheosis did. embaressing.

kusop,

Why do you keep calling Dr. Paley "Parley"? It's making me laugh every time, man you're hilarious  :D

We are all no doctors here, right? I agree with kusop's suggestion to wait for Dr. Betz's answer and explanation and to stop making speculations.
