Hi guys

Just wondering your opinion on whether the NHS in the UK should offer cosmetic leg lengthening as treatment to people suffering from height neurosis or short stature. Im aware there have been people who have had treatment done in the past but its only been on special circumstances or for medical reasons.

In my opinion it should be available. If the NHS thinks its acceptable to give people breast implants or sex change operations then leg lengthening should be available. As a taxpayer myself i have no qualms about helping to fund operations to improve peoples height neurosis. If a person is short you can tell as they are simply below average height and it cant be denied, however there is no way whatsoever you can prove that a guy is trapped in a womans body or vice versa! Yet it is recognised as a genuine disorder whereas height neurosis isnt.

The NHS wastes billions each year handing out unnecessary treatments and drugs to people who generally dont need them. I know people that run to the doctor every time they get a cold or a headache and get antibiotics or various drugs handed to them. If the NHS deems this acceptable then again in my opinion so should leg lengthening be.

I can't comment on the particular policies of the UK (as I'm not fully aware of them), but in my honest opinion... No.

Regardless of what height you are. I don't think any public/governmental entity, which is supported through public taxes, should offer/support cosmetic procedures. I hold this stance for all of them, even for transgender sex change, as harsh as that sounds. Also, when it comes to "height neurosis," less so.

Mainly because so many things can easily go wrong during the journey. Sure, it's not common, but if during the lengthening, or consolidation phase you fall and cause further damage to your body. You'll be looking into further expense to recover from that. And I sure as fk wouldn't want any more of my tax money going to fixing a fk up for a completely unnecessary procedure that wasn't really life or death to begin with...

It's like there a hundreds of things that money could be better used for...

Plus, I hold it as right of way for someone to work hard for the money needed to undergo LL; at least in some sense you're very active and aware as to what you're getting yourself into...

I have a very high tax bill, I'd be very angry if my tax dollars went to crap like LL.
